Whilst I know it wasn't called "France" until after 1066, the point is the Normans weren't Norse. They were a mix of Norse and the local populace of what we now know as France. So Franks, Gauls, some Bretons etc.

I wonder if anybody can come up with a song about "Argie bouncing" next time we play Argentina in a football match.
I take no offence to this football chant I bet the Germans do though that said its hard to really argue against a song about bombers when your nation is guilty of the biggest operation of ethnic cleansing in Europe in recent memory.
My verdict is I wouldn't sing the song but if a few daft young uns sing it I don't think we should be getting all precious about it. They will grow out of it.

I've no problem people getting chinned if they've deserved it by acting like knobheads. This is not just reserved for England. Saw a NUFC fan walloped outside Anfield once for singing about unemployment. Made my day.

Is being a bit of a drunken tit singing songs a reason to be beaten into a coma?

I think the whole pissed up singing crass songs a bit naff, but certainly nothing to get irate about to the point violence is deemed acceptable. Are you implying the Russian mob who had been training and organising it for ages had a disclaimer in their manual saying "only fight if you hear offensive songs"?

If you act like a provocative dickhead, don't complain if somebody wants to have a go. The Russians went too far, that is obvious. But don't put yourself in that position.

the English drunken, garden furniture throwing mob can't have a disclaimer saying 'Russians aren't allowed to hit us for acting like tits' ?

You'd have no problem if they sang about Transatlantic slavery when playing us then, presumably that would all be a bit banter

The blokes a knob. Wishing that on someone for singing a shite song is shite like. I don't like the song along with the ira stuff and that don't take me home chant but wishing someone to be put in a coma along with all the others saying about the git hard Russians getting hold of them next year are just as bad.

But that's what it is today, it's a hipster thing to speak up against this type of thing.

No I wouldn't be offended in fact I would be quite interested to hear such a football chant and how they put it together. They could also put together a chant about how the British founded concentration camps before the Germans in the Boar war , you know as a bit of oneupmanship. Ohh how the sensitive would shudder.
