This is a thread about characters and, love him or hate him, Sammy was a character.

There have been harder blokes, better supporters and less corrupt raffle organisers ...... but a lot of them are gone and forgotten whereas the 'legend of the chin' lives on
A like for "less corrupt Raffle organisers" you've got to laugh !

st albans early 80s after a london match gateshead vaxie bus stopped off for night ....sammy was offerd a pound to climb a xmas tree he got right to top in main square we pushed it over lights falling everywhere sammy somehow survived a 20 foot drop in middle of tree cops pulled him out not a mark on him ..lamber never gave him that pound what a turn .

After everything I read about Sammy I just keep getting the image of him getting carried about with the lads singing about him being our King, he loved that.

We used to go through the Beer Keller regular in Newcastle on a Friday night, full coach load of us all ages. I'm sure Sammy was in one night with others and again he got carried around singing his song, how nobody ever got murdered in those days I'll never know as there was always a good contingent from Wearside great nights, beer snecking , flange and the odd roll about.

Is he still about, haven't seen him for yers
Saw him outside of the station last week, running past.

another one cardiff after game muddy footy pitches where buses parked we ran at cardiff they run off only to re group and run at us we backed off sammy slipped in center circal on his arse the cardiff lads left him alone for sum reason we only had 4 buses down 70s ..sammy got back on bus covered in mud with a cardiff scarf saying he done them ...
