I tell you what bud ive just seen the fall of the wickets and 90% of them were down to rank bad shots. Missing straight balls for LBWs or playing miles from the body. Perhaps it was doing loads off the pitch which led to the bad shots but to me it just looked like shit batting from both teams.

Its hardly a surpise that there has been shit batting. Id be a bit rusty if I hadnt played a test for 10 months

With regards to Eddy, its a shame that due to the advent of 20/20 2.5 day tests are now percevied to be exciting. Its suppose to be a 'test' of mind and skill over 5 days

That's fair enough as an ideal, but in order for a test to last a full 5 days, without the weather interfering, you need to have a 500 v 500 part of the game. That's not always bad, but it was starting to happen all the time, making test matches predictable and only becoming exciting towards the end of day 3. This game has been heavily weighted in the bowlers' favour, and it would be equally bad to have all tests going like this.

Agreed. Tests should idealing be 400 plus affairs first innings and 200 second innings.

some tests will be 5 long days where bat dominates ball, some will be like this test where sides are blown away and some tests will go the wire, where there is an even Bat and ball contest. the fact that it can be any of these types of matches that is what test cricket is all about.

i know what you are saying, but its not that simple because a bowler or two could have an oustanding spell or a batsman or two could have a superb knock....

preparation for the test match has been poor due to too much short form cricket. Test cricket supporters are being short changed

Can't wait for the 2nd Test, I fecking love Test cricket me. Still can't believe the ECB's shoddy scheduling for our Winter.....

Essex Boy's theory held true today. Loads of Saffa wickets were a result of horrible swipes. Kallis got 55 off 42 balls or something.

It was the same in the first test - a lot was made of the pitch but 80% of the dismissals were down to really poor batting on both sides IMO

Australia piled on some agony there, the Saffers looked awful in the bowling department. However after the last Test you couldn't rule out the Aussies being 200 all out at tea

cracking series, shame there wont b a 3rd test
by the sounds of it, i cud have taken that catch...

best attack for me, hardly dominated by SA. Take steyn out and SA would be below australia in terms of bowling.

The Saffers have a class leg spinner, a fifth bowler with 250 test wickets and a bowler in Morkel who would be their best bowler so I disagree

unproven leg spinner in international cricket, Danish kaneria takes wickets for fun in county but has struggled internationally, so cant judge Tahir yet.
Kallis looks well past his best now.
Morkel has potential but then again so did Harmy, he could be just good enough or eventually world class, again time will tell.
