Highlights on ss3 at 9pm for those that missed.
i missed! 4 got all about it
85/9 - i'm confused - this is the rubbish Australian team that England could only beat because they were all past it handing out a hammering to the team that are much better than England in their own back yard
Are England the best in the world or not? Does thrashing Australia in their own back yard mean anything or not?
Please help - Ta muchly!
96 all out.
Those Aussies are utter rubbish like.
this just shows what a complete farce test cricket has become
South Africa have not played a test match for 10 months, yet are only playing a two test series between two of the games superpowers.
How can you not play a test for 10 months and expect to achieve anything in a two test series
Another nail in the coffin for test cricket

There's not an awful lot they can do about that 10 month break though is there. There was the ODI World Cup, and then the only 2 teams to host tests between then and now, England and WI, were both spoken for, they can't come over here every summer. I agree though that it's a shame this is only a 2 test series, this is a cracking game and it would have been quality to have a 4 or 5 test series to really sort them out.
I don't know (or care for that matter) how many ODIs and T20s there are after these tests, but I'll bet there are enough that some could have made way for a 3rd test at least. It's just plain wrong that tests are being sacrificed for the tedium of the pyjama game. At least test matches themselves remain as exciting as ever!

This test is nothing but utter dross. I can gage nothing from this bar one side hasnt played a test for 10 months and it desperately shows.
Test cricket is being devalued more and more and its sad to see a once great game now being given scraps to maintain spectator interest.
Test cricket is the pinnacle of the game and its an absolute disgrace that two nations like this curteosy of the ICC are depriving their own fans of the chance to watch a quality test series.
Ultimately cricket will die out. The longer version is the bread and butter of the game
RIP test cricket
I don't agree about this being utter dross, what have we been crying out to have for ages? A fair contest between bat and ball, this is exactly what we've got here. There's something in the pitch for the bowlers, as proved by Steyn Australia's innings and Watson in SA's innings. But it's not a total viper's nest, as Clarke proved, with hard work, there are runs to be had. Even Smith started to look good for South Africa before Watson came to life.
It's exactly what a test should be, apart from the fact that South Africa are failing to handle the pressure that any Australian side, no matter how good or bad, will always put on.
