Wrestling - Part 3

The last time I went to watch the wrestling, was in 1974 at the Borough Hall, Old Hartlepool.

Les Kellet, Jackie Pallo and Kendo Nagasaki all shared top billing. :p

My mate sneaked into the dressing room to sneak a peak at the unmasked face of Nagasaki.
He got caught, before he had a chance to see an unmasked Kendo Nagasaki, and was given a dig in the guts for his cheek.

Kendo was ceremonially unmasked on World of Sport one Saturday afternoon when I was about 10. He was kneeling down and revealed a pigtail and blood red eyes that supposedly spooked and hypnotised opponents in the ring.

My guess at the time was contact lenses and a look of boredom. I was by no means precocious or clever, it just looked pretty much like that at the time.

Still debating whether or not to book the PPV or trust watchwrestling or some other feed being spot on.

Surely number 21 in the Casino Battle Royal has got to be someone massive.

Ambrose? Punk? Who else could there be?

I'll be watching it on Sunday morning on my flight to Wembley

Curiously on the thought of Punk. Is there anyone who currently doesn't plan to watch AEW who would change their mind if they got him?

I'm All In (pun intended) on AEW anyway so while I'd be overjoyed if they got him, it wouldn't change much for me.

Be interesting to see their approach, personally hope they don't just push former WWE superstars from the start or it won't be as good. Noticed the likes of Tye Dillinger has signed on their. Absolutely shite. Hope they push the likes of hangman Page instead.

Dillinger is far from shite.

I'm not a fan. Dont know what he was like pre WWE but personally found him all gimmick. This is in WWE performance centre where they work for literally8 hours a day, watch film constantly & prep for months for their matches with agents. Got up onto the main roster and looked exposed. All in my opinion obviously

I watched his unmasking on World of Sport Wrestling.
I also remember the red eyes too.
All good innocent fun back in the 70's in the days of Giant Haystacks, Big Daddy, Steve Vidor, The Royal brothers, Adrian Street and Mick McManus to name but a few, of the wrestling stars of that era.

AEW confirmed for weekly TV shows ITV4 in Autumn seemingly, know it'll be easy to mock not being on a major channel bit still one of the freeviews, allowsuch bigger coverage than a sky/bt only channel

AEW gets broadcast on terrestrial tv to 20 million homes. WWE on BT Sports to 2.2 million. I think it's a canny move.

I've still seeing people slagging it off saying the BT Sports deal is better as they get more viewers and no one watches ITV4, they couldnt seem to grasp that more people have access to ITV4 so I gave up arguing. Also means there wont be as much pressure on them to pull in huge ratings compared to if it was on ITV in prime time. I think people forget how many viewers TNA used to bring in over here at one time too and that was tucked away on f***ing Challenge
