Would you accept no promotion?

When we were relegated last season then the new buyer came in they talked a lot of sense about people not taking the p1ss any more and us moving up.

I thought great, a chance to look to the future. Bring some young lads through, consolidate our place in League 1 and sign some young lads permanently. Using the lads we had left from the past as the experience to bring the younger ones on. Cattermole, Oviedo, Matthews, McGeady, etc.

Then I feel like we’ve missed a great opportunity to rebuild the right way. We’ve set off on a journey to chase promotion at the earliest opportunity at all costs. Grigg signed pretty much confirms this.

If you had a choice would you like a slow rebuild if we done it right, possibly not getting promotion this year. Maybe staying in this League 2/3 seasons. Or would you rather we made the current ilk of signings to get promotion this year?

I’d even hoped we’d be offered the chance to buy shares ourselves to gove the supporters a seat at the table, even 5/10 percent would have been nice.
Yes but it’s not what I want.

You would start to see League crowds of less than 20,000 in my view. It would be a disaster.
Don't think you are correct but its all guess work. For the first time in ages I'm happy with the owners and would happily back them to get us going in the right direction.

On what I've seen so far this season, I think we'll struggle. Quality just isn't there, team of grafters with heart, but that will only carry you so far.
I think you're correct - McGeady has quality but had a real off night tonight.

Sorry but all the people who won't accept it - what will you do? Stamp your feet, kick the dog? Please tell me in what way won't you accept it? I'd imagine it would amount to being very angry on a message board.
My answer is NO. Don’t have to justify my prediction to some with an insane imagination.

Er , most definitely not.

Not much I can do about it but there's no dressing it up.

Failure to get promoted would be very damaging for all concerned.

I clearly know and respect my club’s history, fanbase and potential far more than you do if you think it’s fine to accept third tier mediocrity. Have some pride man

Again utter bollocks. Would I rather we were competing in the premier? Of course. However, any supporter who would rather see our club liquidated and go out of existence than fight through whatever problems we are currently having can do one, they are are utterly mental.

I’d rather we were promoted this year, and still believe we will be, and will also scream and shout and support the team every game until my voice is hoarse, but if we didn’t achieve promotion, I’d still support my club.

That is because I respect it’s history, fan base and potential.
If we were liquidated we wouldn’t exist, so I’ll say again, fuck off. You are wrong to even think that never mind suggest it as a so called supporter

Being honest I wouldn't fancy our chances in the Championship with this squad. Unless we have decent money to spend we'd be buried.

Never witnessed so many rubbish attempts at crossing a football by so called professional football players. Even McGeady can't beat the first man

I’ll say it again. I’d sooner see us liquidated than ACCEPT third tier mediocrity

Be a f***ing disaster , out better players would leave and we’d sign a load of plodders and spend years in league one
Who are these better players , what we've got now is a load of plodders, unless this is your first season supporting SAFC you have never seen players of such poor quality. As most people agree, we have not played well since the first half against Barnsley months ago , it's a bloody miracle we are still in with a chance of automatic promotion. People keep pointing to 2 facts , we have only lost 2 games and have scored in every game, sadly there are no prizes for this and if we'd won 7 and lost 6 we'd be 8 points better off and in second place. Very poor starting selection tonight, only Leadbitter looked comfortable in his role among the midfield midgets. FTM

I would not be happy at all but I could not do much about it. I would still support them - I cannot do anything else.

Not achieving promotion this year doesn’t suddenly mean our ambitions as a club amount to merely staying in existence in the third tier.

However, I think my emotions are probably running a bit high at the moment, as I am absolutely sick of the negative shite being posted here (of which yours was not even nearly the worst tonight) so I will look at what you are saying as meaning that you simply want the best for our club, and apologise to you for my initial fuck off.

Yes. I'd be disappointed, obviously, but this season was always going to be one of transition. A lot more work needs to be done again in the summer

Transition should equate to immediate promotion back to the level above and being competitive at least in mid table next season at that level and then making progress the following and perhaps competing for play offs.

Are you sick of the negative ‘shite’ on the pitch ?

Yes, the negative tactics were getting me down.

But, I definitely felt the second half tonight was an improvement. Ross made early second half substitutions to try and change things similar to what he was doing early in the season, and I think performance wise it paid off.

18 shots is much better than we’ve managed for a while, and also gave the crowd something to shout and encourage. I think that is definitely different to what we have had the previous few home games where it has felt like Ross has been too scared to make subs early, even when the full stadium can see what we were doing wasn’t working.
