Wild Camping

Is that bothy bookable or do you just chance it?

Bothys are first come first served. They are very basic shelters but are more comfortable than the tent you'll be carrying and if you have fuel you can usually make a fire in them. I've strangely never used one for years but they can be popular sometimes so always make sure you are carrying shelter in case you can't fit in

Is that a Durston tent?

I was planning on canoe camping this weekend but the winds are up again. Hopefully the weekend after…

Looks more like the Lanshan. Definitely not the Durston which I was in the other week.

As soon as I lit that fire the heavens opened for about 40 minutes and they were on and off for a while after. Next morning the skies were bright blue

It's the good old original Lanshan 2. I was looking at the Durston but I've fallen back in love with the Lanshan.

Loads of tents Id like but most are only available in white or bright colours (he says after posting a picture making the tent look like a beacon)

How do you find the Durston? I don’t need it but you know how easy it is to want more

I use an Alpkit aeronaut and they’ve just brought another one out called the Ultra. Only 800g!

Does anyone do this on the Northumberland coast? Feels a bit too popular an area?

There’s a campsite near beadnell for tents but it’s actually quite pricey in the summer

Wouldn’t mind trying it

I think it's great, I've got the carbon poles for it and it was a good job I took them that night as I couldn't open/expand my trekking poles at all. Ended up having to use pliers when I got home to loosen them up.
I want the star gazing kit and mesh inner next

I've not camped near the coast, probs because I live in a coastal village so I've not thought about it much. I reckon you could easily find a spot in Northumberland, I've seen spots in Durham you could do it and Northumberland is far less populated/busy.
