I bet some Harrogate Town fans moan about there situation. Think
they could progress etc..
Maybe they do, when comparing themselves to other simiar sized clubs, and possibly they'd be well within their rights. It's absolutely ridiculous to compare us to a club like that.

In terms of income, we're a middling premier league club. Clubs in that bracket unless they're exceptionally well run are going to be in danger of relegation. The amount of times we shoot ourselves in the foot it's not surprising we've gone down as often as we have.

Fuckin hell, you wouldn't think our main rivals are Palace, Fulham and Cardiff. We are in touching distance with Palace, have the better run in. 90% chance? You would think we were like 1/10 onto go down. We are evens. I think we have a 50/50 chance. Palace are poor and it looks like their little resurgence is over and they have a very tough run in!

Do we?

I firmly believe we were when beat Stoke and the Mags, however since the Cup Final the dynamics and the morale of the team have took a nosedive.

Poyet looks sick of it and really think the rot is there with this current set of players. He's the right man for the job but the vast majority of the playing staff can fuck off for me.

The same ones Di Canio wanted to get shot of but who went and titled-tattled that the nasty man was making them work hard and show some discipline? Those ones? And now if Poyet tells them to GTF he has shown balls and character...?

Could still stay up but it will only be because others have been worse. And then back to pre-season and another 'Woop de doop we are in the Premier League!' before another long slog of underachievement, failure, blame the players, blame the manager, survive by the fingernails. Repeat. But, still, screw a Cup Final, this monotonous fight to retain the coveted PL status is what it is all about. I grew up dreaming of scoring the goal that staved off relegation out of the PL and certain bankruptcy.

Why is this happening again?
After 77,85,87,91,97,03 and 05, why are we going to be relegated again ( 90% chance in my opinion)?
What is it about SAFC that makes us so f***ing shit?
Some blame the fans, noticeably non attendees on here, but that is nonsense.
Location? The vermin up the road manage to overcome this and Boro signed world stars.
It is the mentality of the club as a whole?
What is the answer and why does this keep repeating itself? I simply haven't a clue what it is but like many others, I want someone or something to blame. But right now, I cannot think what....

It's just as ridiculous to compare wu to Everton and Spurs as some of our fans do.

The sad truth is, in 2014, we should be level with the mags or Southampton but no more....and either of them are capable of relegation over the next few years.

The Premier League is shit and imo it's squad football that has fkd it up.

Goalscorers, at the top level you need goalscorers.
There's a reason a good goalscorer costs more than the best defender in the world.

Boro's dalliance with signing top players for inflated wages has left them in the lurch where they are. The only thing that really stopped them sinking was an established academy with a good reputation. That's not enough to get them back to the Premiership without spending some money to compliment the kids coming through for a real promotion push, which always includes three teams with the remains of a premiership team.

Newcastle have really benefited from Keegans first spell. Attacking football, title challenge and some time in the Champions League. They can hoover up the good players who don't get a look in at Manchester, Liverpool, Everton or the top London sides. Even relegation didn't stop them as they kept the bulk of the team to piss the league straight away.

Had we managed to qualify for Europe under Reid, we'd probably be a bit more like Everton are now. Always knocking on the door of the European places. As it is we have to compete with teams from London and the capital of Wales as well as Birmingham for players. To get the better ones right now means paying higher wages than the other teams. With FFP we can't really do that has every summer we need to seem to sign close to a dozen players due to trying to get rid of players from previous regimes, to trying to replace loan players as well as just improving on what's left.

We should just give Gus and the new DoF time to settle together and get to work on a long term plan. If we get relegated, we'll just have to deal with it. Unfortunatly it seems harder for teams to "easily" bounce back up now.

O'neill had the pedigree to be, flopped massively.
O'neil was the biggest disappointment in 50 years watching shit . What a lazy couldn't give a toss con man he turned out to be . He's yet another typical gobshite "football man " conning well meaning decent people . He even managed to con a billionaire , who ,like me probably thought ; At last , the first manager we've ever had who other teams would have liked, not some (unt just desparate for money to pay his gambolling debts or the like .

Cant blame the area, Liverpool is a shit hole and they've done alright down the years.
When was the last time you were in Liverpool mate? It was European Capital Of Culture in 2008. Having said that, every major city in the UK has it's areas of shitholes, usually on the outskirts. Like you, I think that the area doesn't enter into the equation. If the wages are 'right', then that in itself will attract quality players. Liverpool is a prime example.

Who's done that? And by the way, all right Steve, looking forward to the hotdogs on Wembley way?

Edit: We are much closer in size to both Everton & Spurs than we are to Harrogate Town, so while I wouldn't compare us to any of these, it is not just as ridiculous.

Why ideally located? because its near to Ireland? The problems this football club has always had isn't because its in the North East instead of the North West.

Its in the centre of the country, not to far from london, not to far from anywhere, this matters alot.
We are not, this is a problem..and Liverpool is probably a poor example considering there history..
Think Stoke..Crouch picked them over us..

Do only quality players play internationally?
No, but would you put your reputation on the line and recommend someone for a post you think they might fuck up? international managers tend to look for candidates the think can do a job, that gives a player a sort of pedigree and that's the point I was making. these players aren't shit, you may think they are, but football people (professionals in the game) don't, that's why football fans called Henderson shit, do they call him that now? the vast majority of fans know fuck all about pro football.
