Why Can't 80% Of Season Ticket Holders Be A***d To Go Today?

This. I absolutely detest those games where you have no option where to sit. Packed into one stand when the rest of the ground is empty is no fun, especially when you get sat next to the knackers.
Oh and the fart on with tickets
…and I’m in Spain at the moment 🌞🌞🌞 was careful to book to avoid a home game but forgot all about the cup 🙈
I think this is a big factor - 10 of us sit together in the North Stand, we’d all be far more likely to go if you could just pay to activate your season card and sit in your usual seat - as you could a few years ago.

We aren't going.
Reasons:-
I'm not impressed with the performance in the last few games - especially the way in which we've lost in exactly the same way each time and by NOT buying tickets I can at least show some protest.
We can't get seats in the West Stand where we normally sit.
I have an IT background but I'm too old to fight with the Ticketmaster Website. (I probably would if it wasn't for the first reason though)

I live in London so only attend 5/6 home games a season with my season card, so cba to head up for a cup game to see the reserves.

I guess that’s an extreme example, but for fans who are local I assume it’s mainly due to:
- us playing our reserves vs uninspiring opposition
- it being such a non event, with only 1 stand being open
- linked to the above…not being able to sit where you normally can
- actually having to buy a ticket, when people aren’t in the habit
- there just being so many games…this season we must have played about 20, and we’re only 3 months into the season!

For a club that draws 30K for league games to drop down to drop below 6K for 1st team cup match is f***ing ridiculous. In the old days I've seen our crowds recorded as 50-60K one day an below 5K the next and that would been purely down to the poverty of our area. Today's crowd is purely down to people thinking its below them to watch their team in the early round of the cups. If you can afford it you should be there.
Why should I be there exactly? I can afford to go. I don’t want to go though. Firstly, manager will play a crap team no doubt and the plays will put in 50% effort, so if they can’t be arsed to try why should I make the effort either?

Secondly, I can’t sit in my own seat. I don’t like the east stand, hence my season ticket isn’t in the east stand. I also don’t fancy being crammed in like sardines with a bunch of kids on their big day out of Juvey whilst Covid is around.

I also have life beyond going to the match. There’s two decent PL matches on, England cricket game to seal our place in the semi finals, F1 qualifying and I am buying a house so could use the £20-30 I’d save in the pub and on the ticket. And I’ve got a job interview with a £15k payrise on Tuesday so I intend on prepping whilst watching sport all day.

So why exactly should I be there?

That's what I said, they should be included in the cost of a season card, it takes more effort/consideration to have to purchase a ticket, fans may be more inclined to go if they already have the tickets included.
Hard to roll it into the cost though as you don’t know what rounds you’ll get each season. Mightn’t get any extra games. So you’d have to give them away for free, but can see why the club don’t want to do that

No they shouldn’t. Who are you to say that like? Are you in charge of the mint supporters club?

Go to the game and enjoy it. Don’t worry about what every one else is doing.
I'm not worrying a jot about what other people are doing I can assure you. However when discussing our big club status with fans of other clubs I don't like the rug being pulled out from under my feet due to our shitty attendance record in cup matches over the last 20 years. I reiterate in my opinion you should be there if you can afford to be.

Been to Portsmouth, QPR, Rotherham, Crewe, Sheff Wed and it’s a 200 mile round trip to hone games which I’ve been to all of them.
Giving myself a rest and actually wouldn’t bother me one but if we lost cos we could do without any more games
