Another game I seem to remember spending ages on, and I don't remember which console it was (Spectrum, Commodore 16 or Amiga) was Aliens.

I spent ages to trying to get past the first level! It was guiding the Dropship down to the planet's surface and you had to remain within flight path - it just could not be done! Only way I managed was one of the computer magazines at the time printed the level codes for each level.

Was something like this, but this is the Commodore 64 version...

Alleykat prolly on c64, the 'dissapointing' braybrook game after paradroid and uridium

I remember clocking it about 4 times and scoring about 4x the highest score printed in crash

Then the next issue someone had scored 10x my score. Twat

Only once ever have I took an interest in a computer game .It was "red dead revolver"

My son used to like me to watch him on his game sometimes,I asked for a bit go and never let him back in for the xmas holidays

Bloody Jet Set Willy 2. It wasn't a porn game, and it turned out to be impossible to complete.

I forgot about that. Even with infinite lives I still couldn't finish the bugger!

I honestly cannot remember which machine went with each game!

Spectrum 48 - Sea Base Delta, Star Wars

Commodore 16 - Jet Set Willy 1 & 2

Spectrum 128 - Gunship

Amiga - Supremacy

Jet set willy was on the spectrum. I don't know if it was ported to the Commodore.

On the c64 I played shitloads but they werent epic games. i rarely cimpleted games as they were too hard and repetitive. longest on one game is probably Final Fantasy vii on the playstation or zelda ocarina of time on the n64. fallout 3 on the xbox360 took some hammer too.

Back in the days of 56k modems I was voted one of the top players of all time on a Delta Force 2 fan site...dread to think how many hours but it was worth it. And this was at a time when it was definitely not socially acceptable to have Internet 'friends'.

Mario, in its many forms, even including Sonic and Mario Olympics and Winter Olympics for wii. Marioworld for gameboy was the best of them, though.

Mario Kart in most of its forms, too. Many a 24hr stoned tournament, back in the day but by the time it came out on the wii, those of us who had played the original were living in the far flung reaches of the world but the magic of wifi meant that we could relive our Rainbow Road wars, across the miles.

Monkey Island, Sam and Max Hit The Road, Day Of The Tentacle and the fabulous Full Throttle. Lucasarts did some fantastic adventure games.

Oh, and Bombjack.

Took me almost 2 years to complete GTA5. Don't play much these days, often go a month or 2 without playing. That's being 44, having kids and a busy old life. Back in the 80s I would have finished in about a week!

I love my job

Nearly 500hrs on Fallout 4
Nearly 500 hours on Wings of Prey
Nearly 300 hours on Skyrim
Nearly 250 hours on Fallout NV
Over 100hrs each on CoH 1 & 2
Bioshock series about 30hrs each

Looking forward to the remake of System Shock (a lot) spent a LOT of time on Citadel first time around :)

What is your job?

Not sure about specific games but:

Football/Championship Manager
Final Fantasy
FIFA
