Vitesse Arnhem - quality

Sadly typical of all war cemeteries. Not been to any WW1 ones, but the scale of the American cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach (the one at the end of Saving Private Ryan) shook me up when I was there, as did the bewildering number of names on the Menin Gate in Ypres.

One of my great grandads is buried at tyne cot so we were stopping off there on the way to the Netherlands.

One of my great grandads is buried at tyne cot so we were stopping off there on the way to the Netherlands.

We were there to sing a concert in Ypres cathedral. Our conductor has written a wonderful arrangement of "For the fallen", which we did as an encore. We were holding it together really well until we noticed a woman in tears half way down the nave - it was real test of professionalism finishing that.
