Considering we want a young, progressive manager to take over. Struber is the oldest (46) with the poorest record, and doesn't want to be in the UK.

Lee failed to get them promoted and Alex fucked off. Both appointed in league one as well. They won't be doing that anymore with this model. The model would never get "Francesco from Italy" in league one.

Why does it trigger you so much where they're from? As long as it's for the best of the club does it really matter?

ALS ran an article in November 2020 which had about 10 players on it. All of these made absolutely zero contribution to the club. Gelhart is a worker, he gets stuck in, doesn't hide, he will do ok as a professional. As his touch and confidence improves he will become more effective.
Probably not for us and maybe not in the Premier League but he will do ok. Reminds me a bit of Jordan Rhodes and Ashley Barnes.

Yes he is still one of the worst we have ever had, and my memory goes back to 1980 watching shite for 3/4 of the time. His only saving grace has been he does get stuck in and runs around a lot, whereas some previous loans haven't even managed that. Thankfully we will never see him in a Sunderland shirt again.
 
I'm pretty chilled about it all. I love the job Mowbray has done this season and would have no complaints if he stayed, but equally I'd happily support any decision to replace him if it improved us further. The club aren't actively trying to fuck us over, they're trying to improve us. And whilst Mowbray has an enormous amount of credit in the bank, maybe he's not the man they want to push the club to the next level with? If that's the case I'm fine with that, because I trust the people who are running the club now and think they know what they are doing.

I'm not privy to what goes on behind closed doors but maybe there's stuff we aren't aware of, maybe from the perspective of the people running the show they feel a clean break with Mowbray going out on a high is the best thing for everyone.

I don't know. Like I say, I feel confident every decision is taken with the club's best interests at heart, and whether that's replacing the manager or signing new players, I'm happy to back them. As much as Mowbray has earned our trust, so have the ownership group and the off-the-field team. I trust the process, but obviously understand not everyone does and are maybe more sceptical.

Way I see it, if you really do trust them, you have to back their decisions.

This is exactly how I feel about it all, you’ve just worded it so much better than I could.

If you look at Tony Mowbray’s history in management you wouldn’t be out of line for saying the job he’s done here is probably the best he’s done so far in his career, some would argue that this is is his ceiling.

So IF he is to leave at least he leaves on a high with his and the clubs reputation enhanced and I’m sure we will wish him well in future endeavours.

Got a lot of respect for Tony Mowbray and I still like to see Sunderland do well, they have been easy on the eye to watch this season under him. I just hope they stick with him but this perceived model they are chasing, I just can't stand and it let him down. It is what it is I guess and that is how football is going these days sadly.

You might want to look at Strubers record when talking about ceilings. Of the 3 linked his is mediocre at best
