To Catch a Copper Channel 4

Or Saville.

What about politicians? Blair was responsible for a huge amount of deaths .

What people fail to take into account is that police officers are just people and people have flaws . When a police officer commits a crime , it’s highlighted and reported like virtually no other form of employment other than maybe a politician .
The police are also held to account , quite rightly , like no other form of employment and are subjected to so many more circumstances or situations where if they are that way inclined , could easily fall into criminality or disciplinary behaviour .
Bollocks.

Haway then - who are they?

The ones who investigated Jack Diamond's case are probably the best example known publicly up here. Coppers are obligated to check evidence on both sides of the story and a malicious prosecution is definitely corruption. The fact that the jury took 5 minutes for a not guilty verdict suggests the lass rang the police and they thought he was already guilty soon as they put the phone down.

Poor bastard went through months of trauma being accused of rape because they wanted a case ticked off for a promotion.
.
If that was 1 case against 1 person, imagine how many times it happens a day around the UK. The answer is alot because the new generation of police officers just care about getting green ticks rather than actual policing.

The police will have presented the evidence gathered to the cps- they’ll have taken the case to court after considering the evidence and they must have believed there’d have been a realistic chance of a conviction to do so.
I think they’re more to blame there.

You're right. But it's clear as day the police didn't present any evidence to defend his case which they're obligated to do, if it took 5 minutes for a not jury verdict which is a clear breach of corruption so once it was finally presented in court the judge probably thought this was a f***ing waste of time wasnt it

Apart from when they don't......

It's like that episode of 24hrs in Custody where the lad got ran over outside the pub and they charged and jailed someone purely because he was on the same street. Turned out the reg plate didnt even register to him. If its not his reg plate, its not his car therefore its not him driving it. And he did 3 months for something he didn't do.

The excuse he made for being on the same street he was going to his mates house to watch the UFC, which turned out to be true. That's not policing, that's corruption for not checking the reg plate.

Corruption. or incompetence?

Just watched the second episode.

How on earth did that lass on the bus get compensation and an apology that addressed her feeling “humiliated”?

Absolutely pathetic. Had to remind the credits at the end as I couldn’t believe what I had read about the outcome od the case:). What a ridiculous world we live in.

That would have nothing to do with police. They gather evidence and present to cps. That case would have been reviewed multiple times by criminal justice units and cps and its cps that ultimately decide if it goes to court or not. So thats that whole post unpicked

You've missed the point where police are also obliged to present evidence which defends his case. Police and CPS are not executors, if he said in an interview he was at x spot at 11pm it's their duty not his to obtain the CCTV which defends his story he put in the interview so that's absolutely nothing unpicked.

The official term is malicious prosecution. It is very illegal. When a person is arrested for something they haven't done, their human right of freedom and liberty is taken away so it is extremely serious that it's done correctly

Ah so can you say they didnt investigate that? You seem to know the ins and outs of such case. Given that the cops for this investigation will be DCs and DSs. I would say that given the case went to a jury decision it has been passed for disclosure and were no issues around that so if any info/cctv either way exists it must be presented with the case.

And your talking wrongful arrest. I would put ny mortgage that when the report of a rape comes in, the officers had the power and necessity to arrest

Im lost on what point you're disputing given you have zero knowledge of the profession

Alot more knowledge than you given how you think people can just claim rape to get people arrested and ignorant to the fact police also have to present evidence defending a persons case.

Just pretend you never tried to be clever and I'll do the same.

Because she was black. That's actually the reason.

The rape stats are still massively on favour of unconvicted rapists though so if they are going to address that they will pursue stuff
If someone convincingly makes a pack of lies up its difficult
Particularly to a background of " they never do anything "

It was a ridiculous decision. The reactions from the “community” leaders were insane. It was as if they were watching a different video.

The woman was refusing to leave a bus. She then made verbal threats to assault two officers. She was swearing. Total breach of the peace. Just because the woman is such a cretin that as she was being arrested she grabbed her kid as a human shield does not mean that the police will leave her alone. Thankfully they safely got the kid away from her.

It’s really annoyed me. That footage will have done the rounds within the “community” as they kept referring to and so you will have a load of people thinking that her behaviour is what will be tolerated out in public.

The way some people in this country treat bus drivers, shop assistants and restaurant staff etc is an utter disgrace and it’s down to some faceless morons in a room making decisions like this that emboldens a generation of scum bags to act as though they are the main character.
