Great thread MBH. Proper cheered me up, it has.
Has anyone mentioned the Blackpool getting chased into the sea, yet? :) I think it was during the early '70's?

See post 86. Night game me thinks. They brought umpteen thousand and umpteen of them decided that they would taste the north Sea minus their bathing costumes.

It used to be great rushing out of the New Derby when the away fans were being escorted past. It was man to man marking by the police and them lot would be quiet as owt

Did anyone else use to stand in the Roker or Fulwell Ends and then with about 15 minutes to go hurtle round to the Clock Stand paddocks?

We used to often do that.

Nee idea why looking back.

Yogi Hughes. lasted about 20 mins IIRC.

met him when he ran a bar outside Parkhead (London Road Tavern) about 4-5 yrs ago.
Boss at work had asked if me and me mate fancied going to a celtic game as he had spare tickets.
parked on London road and boss say's '' i have to go and meet some people just get yourself a few beers in there and i will see you in the ground''
So we enter the London road tavern to be greeted by hundreds of green hoops dancing on the tables and singing IRA songs.
so i said to my mate keep your gob shut and if anyone asks your a catholic.
seemed the whole bar were staring at us and one lad asked us who we supported, so we told him Sunderland. Wait here he says (we thought Oh Shit)
next thing we know there is a parting of the masses and Yogi walks through the crowd straight to us and shakes our hands. What a fuckin relief i can tell you.
chatted to him for about 15 minutes about football and decided to get out the bar sharpish.
