Got a holiday booked for next year which isn’t atol protected. Am I fucked if it goes bust?

although I have sympathy for innocent TC employees and of course those who are travelling with TC.

The company itself has a massive problem with customer relations and their complaints depart, should have been sacked en mass 8 years ago.

we used to book all our holidays through them, but since 2011 we have not, due to their wide boy antics

so that's 8 years not a single penny has been handed to TC by us. We are not the only ones either.

you cant keep treating your customers badly, so TC ltd I have no sympathy but it is what you deserve.

Interestingly Virgin announced massive expansion plans the other day with a view to rivaling BAs route network both domestically and internationally if they are awarded slots on runway 3 in Heathrow. It's been speculated they might end up achieving this by buying a struggling low cost airline (Norwegian has been mooted). Wonder if they might see this as an opportunity to purchase some cheap infrastructure.

It seems T.C airlines could easily be sold to a rival, there would be no shortage of takers.Virgin have in deed been heavily linked. As a group overall, the package side is fucked beyond repair. They lost 1.2 billion last year. Why anyone would plough money into that mess, fuck knows.

Going to Florida in 5 weeks, flights were booked separate through T.C, paid through debit card.

Where do I stand?

Think it could be an issue for you if you paid by debit card....your bank MIGHT refund you but I don’t think they HAVE to...may be holiday insurance migh5 cover you so that needs to be checked

The Govt will have to bail them out. At a ridiculous cost to get everyone home.
Said on 10 o clock news that theyve officially appealled for the money from the government.

I was at Manchester Airport when XL airways went under. Planes that landed were boxed in by tractors under orders of the receivers and pilots and cabin crew escorted off the airport as they no longer had employment and there for no valid ID.

Most of the crews had been airborne when news broke and had no idea what had happened

My step sister and her hubby have two weeks all inclusive in Tenerife booked with TC to fly out on 28th Dec,only last week the paid the full balance of the holiday.because of the news yesterday they started looking at what might be avaiable...even two weeks B&B at th3 same hotel is a couple of hundred more than they paid for AI.
It’s ridiculous if TC are allowed to fold, they need £200m but it would cost around 600m to repatriate the 150,000 who are on holiday at minute

It will cost a lot more than 600m and there's over 250,000 need bringing home, this is being downplayed massively and this is coming from a government official.

Shits going to hit the fan.
Crazy to let a company go to the wall for £200 mil who employ 23,000 people. On the flip side where does it end.
We send billions abroad for foreign aid.
I understand its not the governments job to step in but it's hard to take for their employee's
They're the UKs biggest travel company and Europe's 3rd biggest...

TUI are not UK owned but Haway they are our biggest and best and always will be.

I'm getting married in Cyprus next May, I booked the holiday through T.C at the end of last year. Even with getting my money back, it's double the price booking the same holiday through Tui now, which I definitely can't afford. There are 21 guests already booked up as well so I'm committed now
