The Rock/Metal thread......

Listening to a lot of Mastodon at the moment along with Five Finger Death Punch and DevilDriver.

Picked up InFlames latest album a little while back but it was disappointing.

I got bored with them years ago, is the newest album with Jesse back any good?

Pretty good imo, worth a listen if you liked them in the past.

Not a big fan of metal. But like the crossover stuff.

I thought Pitchshifter were a really good industrial outfit until they went the way of Therapy? and softened to shite.

'Desensitized' album is brilliant imo.

lyrics below very perceptive since it was before the commercialisation of the Internet and social media

Any fans of American Punk on this thread?
I used to love it as a teenager then started getting back into it 18 months or so ago when I started using streaming services and started streaming some random bands back catalogues. Descendents (and All obviously), Pennywise, Bad Religion and Against Me have been my most listened to punk bands over the last year or so. Descendents last album (Hypercaffium Spazzinate) is the best of their career IMO - a proper masterpiece, and I love how Milo's voice has developed over the yearsz

I'm the opposite to you, I preferred the 3 albums from "Infortainment?" onwards. Godflesh and Pitchshifter are the only industrial bands I've ever heard that I actually like.

Not a fan of punk either. But if you like American Punk i guess you know Black Flag.
I only heard of them because the great Henry Rollins was in them.

I aways thought the Manson album Antichrist Superstar had an industrial feel, and it's a cracking album - well it would feel industrial with Trent Reznor producing it :)

I used to live in a shared house with Jim Davies from Pitchshifter.

Decent claim to fame there like ;)

Went to his Wiki page and I see he toured with the Prodigy in '95-'96 - so played all the Jilted Generation guitar stuff for them live. I see he also recorded the Firestarter riff on their next album - not too shabby - still prefer his Pitchshifter stuff though
