Took one look after it was done out and turned around again.
Some people shouldn't be allowed near pub ownership.

Agree. Historic pub with the fixtures and soul completely ripped out for a sticky floor and Fostaz. Shite.

Disagree on the beer mind, yes they sold a bit of cask but it was invariably poor, even the Guinness wasn't up to much as I stopped risking the cask long before it changed.

Yep, beer was hit and mostly miss towards the end , last 10 years or so, which generally seems to be the case with a lot of pubs that eventually close, a slow lingering death, with the inevitable closure standing out like a sore thumb, to anyone with a modicum of sense. Would still rather have that Borough though than what it is now, but of course badly run pubs close, as the Borough eventually did. Then you get the amateur businessmen giving it a go, and yes its better a pub open than a pub closed, but these reincarnations rarely appeal to a wide range of clientele, and though they may appear to be doing okay initially, eventually they end up in the same situation, shit beer, dirty and grubby, no customers.

The Peacock is probably now my favourite pub, some cracking gigs upstairs and down, beer is reasonably priced imo. My goto pub for couple of beers with the missus if we're in town.

Aye it was so good that there was hardly anyone went in and it was closing down until the current pubco took it on.

It was dreadful for years but could have been rescued in the same way The Ship Isis was and kept the soul of the place. That chance has gone now.

I've said this a few times. All you get is people who hate the way it is now, ignoring how shit it had become
