The Hundred 2023

There’s no reasoning with that like.

So thats ONE person. You suggested several. Anymore?

You make shit up all the time in order to win arguments

You also deny reality.

So if you’re passionate at trying to increase participation - what are you actively doing in order to assist this?

You’re literally describing the T20 Blast there.

For the record, I’ve never seen ANYONE on here pushing this agenda that ‘The County Championship’ is the only way to grow the game. Not a single person. Yet you, @PeteFTM and @Fleagle seem to have this bizarre default of trying to directly compare the 16.4 with the CC. Why is that? Is it because you know you can’t win a debate when you compare apples to apples?

A line can’t be drawn under this whilst 16.4 cultists like you continue to deny reality. It’s really that simple.
Well I did try ;)

He literally isn’t though. What he’s describing is an English version of the IPL. Not the Blast.

I’m a massive Blast fan personally. I’ve been to six of the last ten finals days and it was regular attendance at home games that was my gateway drug to county membership. I’ve never been to a 100 game. I’ll watch it on the telly if there is no football on. If that makes me a cultist …

But in 20 years it’s gone backwards. It’s not only the IPL that leaves it in its wake now. Just about every franchise tournament does. Even that daft yank one. It’s attracted less broadcast interest with each passing year. It’s attracted fewer stars with each passing year. The format is a failure. I’m comparing apples to apples. The Blast is a pack of shite compared with the IPL as a T20 tournament. And before too long it’ll be a pack of shite compared with that stuff in Texas. I’d prefer to rescue it with a county based elite event, not the hundred. But you’ll not magically reverse that by saying it’s fine as it is.

Exactly mate that is exactly what I am describing.

Your description above is more or less word for word how I see it

I am a massive fan of ‘The Blast’ too I have been praising it going back for years and years on this board when other posters were saying it didn’t prepare our players for test cricket and were having a go that it just produced ‘ sloggers and not the correct type of players for ‘ proper cricket’

Now when something threatens replacing it, it becomes the best thing since sliced bread!!

The Blast T20 finals days was a great event this year which I loved and praised and had several posts in the finals day thread.

Which had a whopping 4 pages, which amazes me because apparently it’s great and everybody loves it on here!!

My suspicion and just my opinion of course is it’s not The Blast fans on here think it’s great it’s the fact Durham are in one competition and not the other which is the main complaint if the hundred knockers were honest

Nope, not even close

No, the game is in Birmingham and I’ve been to work so I couldn’t get there in time - I’ll use my hard earned wages to go to Durham’s last two home games and I’ll be trying my best to get to Worcester for their last away game.

How many 16.4 games you been to? Ever?

How many games of cricket have you been to this season Spamdog? If you’ve been to more than 0 I’ll even give you a sympathy like.
Ah fair enough, just seemed to know loads if not all the players in the hundred and maybe 4/5 in the blast per team (which I do watch also like) again selfishly works really well for me, haven’t missed a game yet.

Yeah you allowed to enjoy it mate, hope you have.

The standard and quality not what I hoped when tournament muted, I have to fair and admit that.

But by very nature the quality is better than The Blast as it cheery picks the best players from 18 teams into 8 teams

Who would have thought that a team who's overseas players include Parnell and a 38yo David Wiese would be crap...
Parnell is shocking. Shits himself when there’s pressure, no idea why he’s captain.

They were in a situation where they needed about 15 from 4 last week and he left one of the balls

He literally isn’t though. What he’s describing is an English version of the IPL. Not the Blast.

He is. Everything he describes can happen with the county version of T20. Absolutely everything. What’s more, it’s all things that the county cricket supporters have said for years and years and years as a way to improve the Blast.
But in 20 years it’s gone backwards. It’s not only the IPL that leaves it in its wake now. Just about every franchise tournament does. Even that daft yank one. It’s attracted less broadcast interest with each passing year. It’s attracted fewer stars with each passing year. The format is a failure.

Now you’re describing the 16.4.

You can’t compare the Blast to any other franchise competition from around the world because unfortunately the Blast is no longer getting the ECB’s ‘best effort’.

If the ECB devalue it, don’t be surprised if it isn’t as ‘special’ as the IPL or other country franchise tournaments.

I’ve never met a single person who is saying it is fine as it is. As for the Blast being a ‘pack of shite’ again, blame the ECB. But it’s still getting better attendances than the 16.4 in terms of aggregate - so what does that tell you??
Well I did try ;)

Nah, you didn’t, you just did what you always do - completely ignore anything ever puts to you.

I’ll ask again, what are you actively doing to improve cricket participation??

Actually just looking, this keeps the Fire in with a chance.. they’ve been so poor lately I thought they were out of it. They have the Superchargers away next which should be a win.
