The Fishing Thread

Mind I have seen some enormous Norwegian fish. Not in real life.
Ive had them to 46 from bodo from the shore.

Ridiculous how big the fish get in that area of norway.

Im booked for february again.

On a side note theres a good sea on now. Duno whether to go out over low tonight or wait

46 lb is bloody huge

Thats what im thinking but might be full of weed with it being first proper sea of the year.

Not sure i fancy standing in the rain either 🤣🤣
A little tip (if you don’t already know) about there is have a chuck without bait. If it’s weeds up move south 25 yards keep doing it until the weed stops. Bingo!!!
I lost a massive fish off there about three year ago. The only cod to take line from me from the shore.

Saltstraumen?

Yes but only on a motorbike, I had a little telescopic spinning rod with me so caught a few small coalfish from the shore to eat. next day I went to another place about 30km south that has a strong tidal race just like Saltstraumen but not as strong. Me and the missus hired a small boat with a little outboard and caught some nice cod, haddock and coalfish but we put them all back apart from a couple to eat. I got one of the biggest frights of my life there, I was pulling in a cod of about 6lb and I was leaning out of the boat to see what it was and a fecking massive white mouth came up behind it trying to swallow it. I shit myself, I honestly thought it was a big shark about to swallow the cod and I jumped back in surprise. Then I realised it was just a massive cod trying for an easy meal.
Just had a google and the place is called Kjelling, we stayed at the campsite by the bridge. See the size of the fjord and how small the gap is where it empty's out into the sea, there are whirlpools there as well but no where near as big as Saltstraumen.

Seen them in Iceland but not in Norway. I used to work the summer in Norway so no chance of seeing them then.
I was fishing up near Alta about 4 years ago. We caught some nice fish but nowt massive by Norwegian standards.
