The Fishing Thread

I wouldn't mind a week pike fishing, sounds fantastic to be honest.I have a 25 minute flight in the morning then a three hour road trip to a river my mate checked a few days ago which is teeming with Salmon.
I have a trip to a rock mark on Saturday where there will be no fish for miles around.

I don’t know why I bother. My mates been sending me videos all day of a new knot he’s learnt for joining braid to flouro.

It’s called the Slim Beauty and you can view it on TOIT FISHING on YouTube.

I shall check it out jeffers,thanks 🙂

Gear dusted down. Rigs made. Box prepped. Winter is upon us 😎😎

Good sea forecast the weekend and into next week but everywhere will be weeded off with the summer weed so will probably give it a miss

On another note I’m starting to get itchy feet. It might be time to book Norway 😎

I do most of my fishing in the Gulf of Mexico from the shore or from boat. when on holiday. Too cold in the UK for my old bones.
I've never gotten away with using braid. Try as I might I get frustrated by wind knots. I'm solely fluoro now.

I love braid now mind for bait fishing and lure fishing. I stayed with mono for too long and I won’t go back

Nice one mate.

One of those bad days yesterday. Fished another water for Barbel, Warwickshire Avon just off Stratford upon Avon.
Will fish it more. Blanked and putting my rods back in the car I’ve snapped one of my free spirit rod tip into 2 pieces 😢
Going to try and get a replacement now.
My mate did that with a spinning rod on the pier years ago. We had set up and were walking along the pier and he let his rod tip drop and it snapped the top six inches off.

Mind the same mate trapped one of my rods in the tailgate of his Frontera. Partly my fault as I left it sticking out.

Lovely swim, one lesson learned for next time would be a 4oz lead.
Right off the back of that weir and a few snags. Had difficulty getting the bank stick in amongst the rocks.
Some big Barbel in the Warwickshire Avon and they like to roam and rarely stay in one location.
Need more water and colour to support the fishing.

Do coarse anglers not use tripods for their rods?
