7 years ago on Tuesday we lost 2-1 to Charlton In the last minute of injury time in the league one play off final, Charlton scored our goal and we sat back for the next 90 minutes.

5 months later our done deal takeover to Dell collapsed so we were stuck with Donald and co, we sacked Jack “1-1” Ross and replaced him with Jurassic Parkinson.

Parkinson failed to get us promoted and was sacked In November 2020, having had us 15th at one point.

Under Lee Johnson we lost to Lincoln in the league 1 play offs and spent another season in league 1.

We lost 5-1 to Rotherham, 0-4 to Portsmouth and 0-6 to Bolton, Johnson left, we then lost 2-1 at home to bottom of the table Doncaster and 2-1 to Cheltenham.

In May 2022, We finally got promoted after 4 years in league 1.

Alex Neil left us for Stoke City, Stoke f***ing city and watched their game whilst we played at home on the same day.

We unluckily lost to Luton in the play offs under Tony Mowbray playing some unbelievable football with a young team.

We then replaced Mowbray with Michael f***ing Beale.

Beale left after 2 months and we finished 16th in the championship.

RLB came in and the rest is history.

7 years after that awful day at Wembley, we’ve just beaten Chelsea 2-1 to finish 7th and qualify for Europe for the first time in 52 years.

Today and this season was for everyone who
Stuck by the club, enjoy it and let’s carried away man.
 
Me dad took me to Roker when I was just 4. I don't recall , who or the result. I started going regular in 1961 and the first game I totally recall was Tottenham Hotspur in the cup in the February, a 1-1 draw. Since then I've followed the lads through thick and thin for 65 years. This season has been nothing other than incredible even beating the 73 final, the the years 2014, Reidys reign and of course the first and second relegations to league 3. Never in my lifetime following the lads home and away, yes even those wet Tuesday and Wednesday night's at PNE, Burys, Crewe, did I expect to have I been part of the most "Professional way" our Club has been run. Ever.

A massive thank you to KLD and all staff at my beloved Club.

My mums last game was against Wycombe. She died very suddenly a few weeks after
And never saw us kick a ball in the Championship.
On Saturday I managed to jig a schedule to fly back to the UK. My dad was out shopping, doing stuff before the Boro game. I casually walked into the kithchen and asked him if he fancied a beer. He looked like he had seen a ghost, then cried twice and hugged me. I don’t think we’d done that before. Boro lost, and then I bbqd for the family while we nervously watched the game. My life is complete
 
Last year I walked out of Wembley into the sunshine and thought, well I guess I can't top myself yet, need to at least see the lads give it a go in the prem. Season of my life later, and here we are again, with them giving me a frankly unbelievable reason to stick around for a while longer. Europa f*cking League, who could even dream it eh

He lit up like the Sun that day, his whole face shone and it shone even brighter when he was telling me about the experience, honor and how much that had meant for him, as he took me home after the match. As a young boy, I realised how deep a love of football and a club can go in a person. It is a beautiful thing!

I thought about how much he would have shone just as bright if he was still here, at what SAFC has achieved. He'll be smiling down with so much pride.'

What a magical 12 months. We went through so much and we always said one day it’ll be worth it. To see the smiles on our so sons faces today is something I’ll never forget.
 
It's difficult not to think of those who aren't still around. My Dad passed in the March before we got promoted from League 1. He'd have loved what's happened since (except the Beale fiasco). I like to think he maybe had a word in God's ear to tell him to give us a break.
