The emotional thread...

Mental achievement from the lads. Thinking of my dad up there he’d of loved this
Aye same here. Dad’s birthday today. He’s been gone for three years now but after a game like that my mind always goes to phone him up to celebrate. He won’t believe it. At least he saw us get out of league one.

It's going to take a while to fully sink in.

I was blessed to be with the old man yesterday, he has seen the lot since the 60's. The highs of 73 to the devastating lows more recently.

Not long ago we were in doubt if we would ever see top flight football again but look at us now.

Yesterday was one of the big moments in SAFC's long history, not just since we moved to the SOL but our entire history.

To be able to celebrate it like we did must be the pinnacle. It cannot get much better surely?

Was in absolute bits yesterday.

To paraphrase that shower of morally bereft wankers up the road “Wav got our club back”

But in the right way.

Saw a post on FB today which I thought pretty much summed up how a lot of us felt yesterday and today

“I’ve watched SAFC embarrass themselves with 15 and 19 point relegations, narrowly avoid setting the record for the most consecutive losses in the history of football, then worse than that, we had to suffer David Moyes. We’ve witnessed double relegations to
League 1, and had heartbreak at Wembley too many times to mention, but the faith/stupidity never left. Always in the shadow, always the underdog, always believing, turning up week after week, home and away.

Something changed at this football club when KLD took us over. We finally triumphed at Wembley to get out of league 1, Uncle Tony gave us some of the best football we’d ever seen and we nearly got back to the premier league but we weren’t ready. The next year, we had St Ballards Day and then on this day last year, we finally returned to where we should be amongst the elite of English football.

Today, I’ve witnessed my club secure European football for the first time in 30 plus years as a season ticket holder, and the first time as a club since 1973. The tears today with my dad, my boy, by those who’ve been there through thick and thin, were the tears of joy, relief and sheer disbelief that our club had finally shown the world what we all believe, and what we know we’re capable of.

To some it’ll sound daft, but to me, it’s been my club since I can remember, through ups and downs, through happy times and sad, and even when it was hard, that badge was worn with pride. I know it will inevitably end and things will change but for now I’m going to enjoy this trip we’re on because by god, we’ve earned it!!

HAWAY THE LADS ❤️🤍❤️🤍
