The emotional thread...

Said to my lad this time last year at Wembley, I’m so glad you get to experience us in the premier league, we will probably get relegated but it’ll be a great experience.

Now I’m already writing the email to his school that he will be having some unauthorised absences next year due to Europe.

Bloody hell.
Went to see me dads memorial brick just before the match. He’d be absolutely buzzing right now (as well as telling me it’s far to dangerous to do a European away day)

Bloody hell,

just goes to show, you have to get through the hard times to really enjoy the good times and this season is just one of the very best!
That’s what makes this all the sweeter. All the piss taking shit mag crack like “I’ve never seen a Mackem in Milan” we’ve tolerated over the last 30 odd years has culminated into today and hopefully the future. A few years ago we were languishing in league one. We’re now in Europe and the richest club in the world are begging investors to do up Sid James’ park 🤷‍♂️😎

We not only stayed up this season but paffed those daft fuckers back in the corner where they belong 😎

For all you fans that have never stopped going through the bad times this is for you.

You make us proud and this is as much about you as it is about the team.
Said something similar last year after the play off, never in my wildest dreams did i think that would be trumped so soon

well said.

I remember the first time we dropped into the 3rd tier, all the crap since with the odd bright spot and the never ending piss taking.

Well I went to my first game in 1984 and I can say this has been the most enjoyable season for me supporting the lads.

Written off before a ball was kicked, no acknowledgement of how well we were doing, beating the scum twice and two league one gems being involved with a goal that takes us to europe.

And we didnt have to sell our soul to do it!

As a fan for more than 50 years never seen much to celebrate since 73 except a few play off wins leauge one title two 7th places under Reidy.

I was 8yrs old when we won the cup and last played in Europe today is special Special time drink it in!!!

This dream has been 53l long years in the making for supporters like me through hell and high water Div one relegations wembley heartache. I have been through it all with this Club. Heartache despair tears frustration Elation joy and then the last 12 months crowned by today!!
❤ You Sunlund till the End!! FTM!

WE TOOK THEIR DIRTY SAUDI PANTS DOWN THIS SEASON BOYS AND STUCK IT RIGH T UP EM!!! HAVE IT!!! YOU DIRTY OIL SOAKED SAUDI BSTARDS!

All your Money cant buy you what we have done this Season and what we did acheived with out selling our Souls.

What you could never do with out filthy dirty morally corrupt owners we have done with hard work and Pride!! What an acheivment! Loving it!! The scenes and Memories are precious Enjoy every Second of it!!

I wrote this on another thread, but this thread is apt, so I'll just post it on here also...

'I also thought about my dad who was gone far too soon. I thought about the day in the 80's when he came in the house and was was busting with pride and joy, when he told me he was going referee for the first time at Roker Park. He explained how he loved SAFC with his heart and soul, how he felt it was such a privilage to be on that pitch and what the Roker Park meant to him. He lit up like the Sun that day, his whole face shone and it shone even brighter when he was telling me about the experience, honor and how much that had meant for him, as he took me home after the match. As a young boy, I realised how deep a love of football and a club can go in a person. It is a beautiful thing!

I thought about how much he would have shone just as bright if he was still here, at what SAFC has achieved. He'll be smiling down with so much pride.'

It felt bigger than standing at Wembley for those two finals that got us here. I’ve experienced Wembley wins and loses but in my 43 years on this earth we’ve not done this. I struggled to see us back in the premier league anytime soon in those days not only are we back but we’ve equaled our best finish and qualified for Europa League. Not got the words.

It always makes you think of those not with us. I remember thinking of me ma when we went up to the championship, then my Nana passed not long before the championship playoff. I thought of them those days.

That's the thing. A Liverpool fan for example will never have experienced success in the same way. For them winning things is routine. They might cheer but its more of the same. You really need to have been through difficult periods to really appreciate days like today.

I thank you all and wish you the best in our wildest dreams we couldn’t have wished for a better season massive effort from everyone at the club onwards and upwards beating the mags twice finishing above them and qualifying for Europe i absolutely love this club enjoy the summer lol big langy

Lads and lasses, I was at Wembley on 31 July 2022 when the Lionesses won the Euros and for me that was as massive as today (I know it’s not everyone’s thing but it’s mine), anyhoo … it literally hit me weeks later when suddenly the emotion hit me. It was like October.
