There is an episode in S3, Aberfan, if that doesn't touch you there is more iced water running through your veins than in Lizzy's.S1 and S2 were fantastic TV. S3 wasn’t as good. Hoping for more for S4.
It was a hell of a lot better say Daniel Blake etc.Just finished episode 5. Quite a good episode going into some detail about Michael Fagan. Can understand how he was pushed to breaking point by an unfair system. The way the job centre woman spoke to him, she wouldn’t get away with it today. Thatcher’s attitude when the Queen attempted to discuss him with her
Gillian Anderson is brilliant.
She really is.
A shout out to the lass playing Diana too mind. She's got her mannerisms absolutely nailed down
Aye, exactly why I didn't watch it. Completely not that at all, it's brilliant.Well I thought this was something for OAPs, my mam watches it but after seeing some of the comments on here I might give it a go.
Yeah, that's a really good point.Thete have been some stunning scenes. I love the relationships between the Queen and the pms. I'm fascinated by the portrayal of Thatcher. The scene where she is most unnerving is when Mark Thatcher is found. Her love for him is ironically where she appears even less human than normal. It's almost grotesque.
Well I think theres enough SMB culture vulture heavy hitters commented now to make me decide to give it a whirl.Aye, exactly why I didn't watch it. Completely not that at all, it's brilliant.
Get it watched, you wont be disappointed.Well I think theres enough SMB culture vulture heavy hitters commented now to make me decide to give it a whirl.
I still have this nagging doubt that it's all a big conspiracy against me and I'll give it a whirl and find out it's Last of the Summer wine meets Downton Abbey or summit, and I'll come on here and everyone will be having a good old laugh. Ha ha fooled you, it's shite really, a drama about the Royal Family - what did you expect you sponge ?

I see a lot of people on here didn’t enjoy S3, it was probably my favourite of the first three. The Aberfan episode and also the episode where Charles is sent to Aberystwyth and his lecturer is a Welsh nationalist were brilliant IMO.
All in all it’s up there with Chernobyl as best thing I’ve watched in the last 5-10 years.
That's what I thought - Downton Abbey. Not that Ive watched Downton Abbey but the Crown is the best thing on TV at the moment. Some amazing insights into recent history. really moving on occasions and just a fantastically produced programme. Good TV often attracts the best actors and this is true of the Crown. As others have said the relationship between the Queen and the various PM's - it will make you appreciate the value that the Queen brings. I am in no way a massive Royalist but I can see much more the importance of the role the Queen plays for the UK.Well I think theres enough SMB culture vulture heavy hitters commented now to make me decide to give it a whirl.

The Mrs watched it the other day, she cried. Called her a puff, obv. There is an episode in S3, Aberfan, if that doesn't touch you there is more iced water running through your veins than in Lizzy's.
I found the first three seasons (especially the first two) tremendous. Yeah some of it is drama but I learnt a canny bit from various events. Made me read up on former prime ministers, aberfan, the London fog, Edward etc
Thing is now it’s catching up to modern times so it’s a bit less interesting. Still mint though.
I think she's a brand new actress too. Better looking than Diana mind. She really is.
