The best supermarket red wine

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt (literally!). When I was in Myanmar they were making a push to become the main wine brand. Thought it was okay, nowt special. I personally like Lidl wines. There's a Primitivo from Puglia that I particularly enjoy.
Sainsbury's do a cracking Primitivo Salento in their Taste the Difference range for about £7. Favourite Italian wine in the sub £10 bracket.

Has anyone ever done a taste test with red wine, I haven’t but it would be interesting to see what the results would be, say 5 or so and trying to work out from an expense perspective.

I reckon anything less than £7ish is likely to be poor - anything after that and the law of diminishing returns kicks in.
So my sweet spot is £7-8

I started trying a few until one night over me mates he was decanting bottle after bottle, it's probably the most pissed I've been since I was about 16.
Now whether it was the wine or all the shots and lager I've no idea but I've not had many bottles since and certainly had no shots.

I got driven home with a bucket sat on my knee.

No-one else use that Vivino app? I find it really useful when in Supermarkets, a quick photo of the label and it gives a review (and more importantly the average price which shows if the supermarket reduction is genuine).
Mind it can be fooled - I sent it a pic of my pint once and it took a couple of days to get back to me to say I was taking the piss.

Anything 13-14% i could never tell the difference between medium priced wine and expensive wine, the 5 litre €5.00 bag in a box does me.

I use decanter quite a bit, just Google Tesco best wine and it usually beings up a short list with taste scores next to them. I then look for the ones on it and take it from there. Had some absolutely brilliant wines as a result
Still no luck with the taste? I found red wine absolutely revolting when mine was coming back slowly, tasted like metallic juice.

Things are coming back now but it's very slow. I can taste brocolli and sweetcorn for example. I get slight hints from other things such as tomatoes as well but mostly nothing still. Just trying an Amstel now, avoided the beers I like and just got some of these cheap to check, you can tell it's lager but it's just fizzy and pretty tasteless as well. At least it's starting to return though but until it's back properly I won't be going near my ipa's or wines

I use it too. The prices tend to be too high on average because people post restaurant prices too, so take them with a pinch of salt (the prices)
