Takeover Rumours

They’re football fans - and not particularly insightful ones at that. Excellent businessmen but don’t know what’s needed to make a football club successful on the pitch.
I guess the arrogance of the post annoyed me a bit.

They know the most important thing: that they need more investment to get the club back to where it belongs. That to me is football knowledge.

Man City had to go through stages to get to where they are today. They even had Mark Hughes ffs as part of that evolution. 6 years of Allardyce would be a huge step forward imo.

Feels good to dream about this shit tbh.
Not a chance he'd be here six. he's 65 and hasn't been anywhere that long since Bolton where he was appointed as a 45 year old. last 4 positions have all be 12 months or less. I'd be for the appointment, but if I was one of the higher-ups I'd be getting a succession plan in place pretty much straight away.

Very much agree with you on the importance of successfully navigating your way through stages BTW. Sheff Utd, Bournemouth and arguably Spurs and possibly Liverpool are the only Premier League teams I can think of who've had sustained periods of success with a single manager at the helm.

They shouldn’t need investment to get Safc out of league one tbh. And I honestly reckon I’d make better decisions on the football side than they have so far so I don’t consider it an arrogant post:cool:

As I say they’re excellent businessmen but incredibly underwhelming whenever they talk about football - and this is borne out by the poor football strategy implemented during their tenure at Safc.

I take your point, but I'd say it's more likely that he'd commit to a long term project at his age (as funny as that sounds). No point jumping from job to job at 65. At some point surely, after everything he's been through, he'd think about laying down some foundations for some sort of respected legacy. He's already got a head start here.

I’ll give you a quote. Reiver told me when this takeover talk first broke, so a few weeks back, that the takeover guys had been in touch with Big Sam and were seeking his advice. He swore me to secrecy. I’m not bullshitting you.
Someone told me something similar and I bereived him. I suppose it's canny being an ITK lackey rather than a doubting know nowt constantly taking swipes at those passing on what info (right or wrong) they can on here for others to read. I've no doubt other titbits will eventually come out in near future and I hope it all does along with even more stuff that even Mr Dell himself doesn't yet know about!:lol:

I agree wholeheartedly. I just don't know if he'd have the energy for a six year stint.

What's he doing now?
Just looked up and it appears he’s at the FA. Would be worth a conversation though. If that isn’t doable then see if you can talk to Brian Marwood - again a better bet than Allardyce.

I’m not wholly against Allardyce. It’s more that I don’t really think that they need the advice of a manager at this stage. They need to speak to people who build clubs from top to bottom. Allardyce doesn’t fit that bill.

Yes mate, the new lads would make a great impression if they went behind the back of the DA to their staff

Was it this one, received on Sept 1st, a fortnight ago ....

.... make sure you check the date.

"Allardyce is ******* ***** ****** for his opinion on the squad, manager, coaches, style, etc. just as you'd hope.

No plans to take him on but you never know do you."

I received the same one mate, but a few days before

Alright Rivs. Nowt to say about the rest of it? Allardyce doesn’t have the track record of building clubs. He’s not interested in youth development, isn’t one for analytics and is too cosy with agents. He’s a good manager - better than Ross - but that’s not what’s needed right now. You keep talking about how the new owners will be big thinkers who are in it for the long haul and won’t do things by halves. Not sure getting Allardyce as their primary advisor would be good evidence of that tbh.

Haway man, don't you think it would be top of the page if it was all official.
With the amount of spunking off that would result from everyone on here then it would definitely be a sticky post at the top of the forum 💦
