It would be a statement of intent in terms of a League One club appointing a big-ish name manager. I would see it as a bit of a lazy, unimaginative appointment though tbh - I'd hope our new owners (the richest in the world apparently) would have more of a long-term vision for the club than Sam f***ing Allardyce. I wouldn't even mind letting Ross have the rest of the season if it gave the new owners some time to plan for the future instead of rushing to appoint the likes of Big Sam.
He's a better manager than Ross though. And he is often credited as being quite into the whole sports science thing so I doubt he's even much more of a dinosaur than Ross despite his age. Other than the questions about money I don't see how anyone wouldn't see it as a positive appointment tbh. In managerial teams he's pretty obviously PL quality, Ross hasn't proved himself to be anywhere near that yet, funny thing is a manager is arguably more important than any one player but if we could get a PL standard striker in this league or stick with Grigg/ Wyke it wouldn't even be a debate. If you can afford it you get the best you can. I think he could get us back to the PL, if we then thought we needed a change we could make one. I'm literally just thinking "who is better, Allardyce or Ross" and if anyone says the latter i think they're kidding themselves
