Takeover Rumours

Quite often premier league sides struggle to play good football against the scrappers of the lower division and effectively win with a bit of extra quality. It’s what we’re doing now mostly. Our standard crap goal conceded remains my biggest concern because it will become more than one against better sides.

It isn't that often at all tbf and happens less than a quality team battering a lower league side and very rarely are they the poorer side desperately trying to hang on when they are ahead.

I agree with conceding. Especially when the manager says clean sheets will get us promoted and not scoring goals. Our slow starts are also worrying, especially as its been going on since beginning of last season.

Fat scam no way as soon as someone offered 50p more he would be away.

But he did not he took the cash.
Any English manager worth his salt would jump at the chance to manage his National team. It is the pinicle of their career.
Let's face it if we are talking money there are not many people who wouldn't jump ship if they were offered a beer salary.

Named Sunderland manager in October 2015 when we were 19th in the table with 3 points from the first 8 games. In the January transfer window in brought in Kone', Kirchoff and Khazri. Remember that match against Liverpool when we were 2 nil down with 10 minutes to play and managed to get a draw.
Allardyce might not be everyone's cup of tea, but he certainly knew the transfer market, was able to organize the defence and was even good enough to be named England manager. Who knows what he would have achieved had he stayed.
Two disrespectful arseholes and someone who wasn’t able to train. Yes he got the best out of them in the short term but despite Moyes obvious inadequacies those two letting players run past them were a big reason for our struggles. Some of that - the Everton appearance - was driven by Sams chosen agent. This is the reality of Big Sam and transfers as time has gone on. Murky and blinkered. He would need controlling on that front and probably wouldn’t accept that.

The football under O’Neill and Ross is far worse than anything else we’ve seen since our last return to the prem. BSA might not have had us playing tiki taka but it was a damn sight better than this. It’s moot however because he’s not coming back.
The football under O’Neill was very good up to the Everton cup game. Definitely the equal of what Allardyce served up. After that it was horrendous, mind

To be fair to him for some of his time at Bolton the football was good eg the Okocha and Djorkaeff era and there were about 5 games where we played good football but after then most of his jobs have been scrapping for survival and it’s just been dull and functional.
He’s never been particularly good as anything but the underdog. He’s not good when he has expectation to dominate. Not sure how well he’d do building at the biggest and best resources club in league one. It’s certainly not a sure thing for me.
We played some good stuff in the early days under oniel, not recognising this is rewriting history! He went to short in the summer to ask for investment in a few players and was refused his targets ..started playing tight defensive stuff ( worst ive seen)to prove a point and could only attract shit in the january window and the rest is history ...........during shorts time although he spent millions chasing his tail we never sustained investment and had 6 or 7 good players of our own in in our team creating something to build upon year after year.We need to build a team and that takes time luck and money and of course a decent manager and at this point i dont think that manager is Ross
There’s a bring rewriting history in that post too, mind. He got his two main targets. He chased fletcher like a dog all summer. The fact that he didn’t fit with what we needed (and his team building failed) was down to him.

I know we were a lot better organised but just didn’t really enjoy watching us
So did you enjoy watching us that season before Allardyce took over? Football is and always has been about results and we needed results not "panache". If Allardyce had better players such as Man.City or Liverpool's the style would be better. You make do with what you have got and Allardyce got the best out of the players at his disposal, it is not possible to do any more than that for God's sake.

Tbf those three signings at the time totally changed us. Moyes came in and fucked Kone off immediately and bombed Khazri out preferring his mate Pienaar who was brought in to take Moyes side as the current players hated him. He also didn't have a clue how to manage injuries and fitness (remember him playing McNair for 60 mins with a snapped ACL) so Kirchoff rarely played, and when he did he was ayes out of position. It could have all been very different for Kone/Khazri if Sam had stayed.

Allardyce got the best of of the players he had and played a way that suited them.

That being said I'm not that interested in him coming back for various reasons I posted last night, and in particular his dodgy agent affiliations.

What has form got to with the way you play football????!! I remember going to Liverpool away and we got a 2-2 draw which is a good result but for 80 mins it was some of the worst football I have seen
Was that when half the scousers walked out on 70 min or so and Liverpool went from world beaters to shit?

You can accept poor play when you get a 2-2 draw at Anfield man.

These days your clapping like fuck when we draw at home to oxford and lose 3-0 to peterborough because 'look what we were like 14 months ago'.

Embarrassing beyond belief.

I agree partly with this re Pienaar and the dressing room etc but at that time Khazri and Kone had the lip on and were a disgrace and not deserving of a place in the side as a result. You can’t excuse their role. Other , more limited players at least tried and both players disrespected us, the club and their team mates. Kirchhoff I loved - quality player- but look at him now - unable to get game time due to poor fitness. His fitness under Sam was unsustainable.
