I think Donald said he “stripped it right back” but that since January they’d started increasing numbers in the scouting dept. We're cut to the bone on recruitment, aren't we?
There's only 2 of them running the show

I know this isn't a response to me but I disagree with this. I personally didn't want Grigg either.
Last season Ross spent months saying he wanted a left sided defender and in January we went out and got Dunne (a right sided defender). We've now signed 7 CB's in about 14 months. We still don't have a left sided defender. We are playing Willis (another right sided CB there).
We've allowed James to leave, knowing Oviedo would follow, and ended up having to ring round and sign anyone that was available on deadline day so an academy product, who was struggling, wasn't the only left back at the club, and were so desperate we signed them injured.
We are playing a cm at right back because despite signing a specialist RB he's been awful and now has been dropped from the side.
We've signed defensive midfielder after defensive midfielder which Donald highlighted on twitter was a reason why the squad was so bloated it stopped us from signing anyone early in the window. Ross stated in the summer he wanted pace. We didn't bring any in.
We've paid massively over the odds on Ross' top target and he's on the bench every game.
We lost a winger on loan and haven't replaced them leaving us short of options out wide.
We've got the head of recruitment going to speed dating events because we are more interested in trying to avoid paying agents than we are in identifying targets and signing them.
The criteria for signings seems to be free and available and whilst some players are decent individuals, none of them look like a team, or have characteristics that compliment others, or work in partnerships because none of them seem to have been signed with any prior thought or suitability to identity.
Ross played a back 5 all summer and the beginning of the seaoan and played 3/4 players out of position in the first games because he signed nobody to play in the roles he'd decided would get us promoted.

Not having a pop marra but do you really believe that we will bring in the players to guarantee us promotion considering the alleged restrictions with FFP, or God forbid the takeover doesn’t go through, then we wouldn’t be spending money anyhow. The good news is that STRUCTURE is incoming! It’s sometimes difficult for a club to be able to afford structure in the lower leagues.
I imagine the playing side will be sorted in Jan and we will be the finished article as far as a team looking for a promotion push is concerned. Let’s just hope that in Jan it’s still within touching distance.
Until then I’m simply going to sit down and strap in as it’s gonna be some ride!
Working in EFL1 I would not think their would be many agents that could be involved in sweeteners or much else to worry about , as we progressed Stewart Donald would ultimately need to rubber stamp everything in any case .No manager would have turned down England
It’s his shadey agent relationship dealings that would be the only worry
Excellent post mate. Apart from this hes doing great tho. Charlatan springs to mind.I know this isn't a response to me but I disagree with this. I personally didn't want Grigg either.

Wasnt it something like 1 defeat in the last 11 games or sumit? He was great here, we looked a very decent sideMust admit though, what you like best is open to interpretation, but 4 defeats in the second half of the season, form in the top half, wins against good sides, building a side after a transfer window that actually seemed like the signings had been bought for a purpose and performed well; regardless of how it ended and how the players did without him, he was impressive here.
The good news is that STRUCTURE is incoming! It’s sometimes difficult for a club to be able to afford structure in the lower leagues.
The new owners, if what we read is to be believed, will instil a professional model that will yield the right players for the right leagues I’m sure.
It’s easy to criticise the current camp but taking into consideration just what they took on (biggest basket case club in English football) and what we are now (on the brink of MSD investment) I think they have done a remarkable job. Maybe, just maybe, had we gone up last year These investors might have picked another club to fix...

This is why we need a dof involved asapI think off the pitch Donald's done a great job but it can be argued that job had hindered what is happening on the pitch. Flip side of that though is getting new investors was priority and the current football is hopefully only short term.
I do have reservations about Donald staying on though as I can't see much changing football wise if he does. I'm happy for him to stay on to run the business side of it though.
A pretty good summing up mate..I know this isn't a response to me but I disagree with this. I personally didn't want Grigg either.

If the takeover goes through and we don't put in a bid for Maddison - or someone similar/better in January - then we will be pushing our luck to get near automatic promotion. He threaded an absolute beauty of a ball through the Peterborough defence for their third goal and chipped in one of his own from 30 yards out, and scored a penalty. For me, he's from the same book of tricks as Maguire, but he's 5 years younger and he makes thing happen on a regular basis. If we're not after Maddison, who I think most people believe would come here, then either we're chasing better players or we've got no ambition. Hopefully, it's the former.
Spot on. Only thing I’d add is that we clearly haven’t scouted some of these signings either (eg de bock). We haven’t watched the players we’ve brought in, just rang around our “contacts” asking for a handout

Yep spot on again mate youre original post earlier was the post of the year so far.Recruitment is the problem id watched grigg for 2 years as my cousin moved near there ,i was telling everybody we shouldnt sign him.I then argued this with cm sorry kildare mackem when i said if coton has watched him then he needs to have cataracts operation .We cant move forward while these tits are in our recruitment team.I think off the pitch Donald's done a great job but it can be argued that job had hindered what is happening on the pitch.
