Takeover in trouble

It looks like there is a lot of back pedaling for comfort going on with the owners at the moment. My reasoning for thinking this way is that they owners were going to sit down the week after the play off final with the manager to see what had went wrong. At that time they backed the manager 100% ,irc, and stated what they were going to do to put it right with a 100 point target for this coming season. That was on the 26th May.

Now I may be wrong but it was the owners, no one other, who have been making positive comments regarding the healthy position of the club, another significant transfer budget, new investment from various parties and that players were lined up to come to the club . As the closed season is significantly shorter these days it would seem sensible ,in order to catch the players that we all know are needed to make a successful challenge this season, that targets should have been identified and signings completed as a matter of haste.....Other clubs have signed up 5 ,6 or 7 players while we seem to have twiddle our thumbs.

It could be the case that the club did not want to pay wages to player that signed early (who could possibly think that) a prudent look from those wasteful years of tossing money away and may have missed one or possibly two. Now we find next season is less than five weeks away and I can foresee that another few Will Grigg (overpaying) situations coming to pass although I hope i'm completely wrong. The names flowing through these message boards like Remie Streete are just figboxes of the imagination and that we have six decent players signed up already....Yes, I do dream occasionally.

Today we see the owners pulling back from the media streams that were used to give news directly. It was only a matter of time.

Also within a day of it being reported a takeover has failed, which will stop two signings being made who were wanted by a new owner, the current owner has announced 3 players are coming, one of them being announced today, the ores season friendly has been announced and he has quit twitter.

Whether you believe paper speculation or not the timing is coincidental.

tbf the pre season game would have been organised prior to today-its probably the case that he was too busy negotiating to send the press release out.

and whose to say we arent? i doubt we are small time enough to announce we have signed fourteen years olds from stevenage or whatever it is.

charlie has worked in those sorts of roles at two of the top clubs in the UK..of course he knows about them-he is proven at the very top level in that regard.

I think we’d have heard it we were having successes with the academy and signing what we believed to be future top prospects.

You're definitely something to do within the club, or want to come across that way...

Think they can spare 5 mins to tell someone to release it tbf.
they didnt araange a game in less than 24 hours-i ean they would have had to work with the airshow organisers-get the dutch guys signed up etc befre they could announce anything..they didnt do that in a few hours.

How do you know?
because this game is organised at the same time as the airshow-they would have had to talk with the council? the council dont work sundays.
and they couldnt have gone to the dutch guys unless they had to,e conformed-so they must have gone to the ducthmen for confirmation after speaking wih the council.

Why are you on the forum? It’s clear as day you’re not a historical Sunderland fan...

What are your links to the club?

But they shouldn't need investment or to sell now as we are still in League One with £19m or whatever of parachute payments incoming and us already pretty close to an even keel in profit/loss terms.

And all this fannying around is just getting in the way of the stable build up over Summer we were all looking forward to for once.

Well, that assumes that the parachute payments for 19/20 that have already been borrowed against to fund a shortfall last season will end up being able to keep us going next season. I think even the most blindly optimistic fan would recognise by now that it is increasingly likely that Donald is a man who works the PR machine well, but is often running us close to the ragged edge in F1 parlance. I'm very much concerned about the way he has handled the last 6 months. Something is wrong in my view, and we may not know what it is until this time next year.

SD is shit at PR. Fans hate him. PR is supposed to not that.

Fans lapped it up all season mate. You know that. It's only now that people are starting to question some of the real goings on under the hood.

And I know some people say we shouldn't, but look at the last ten years. Anyone who comes in like he did with relatively little working capital of his own should expect scrutiny from fans who almost saw Short take us to the wall.
