T20 Blast 2026

Same squad named but any changes to final XI?
I'd retain Robinson,he's done ok in T20 so far and I'd persist hoping he'll regain his confidence. Sowter,Ackerman and Rhodes have contributed little, maybe youngsters in the squad deserve a chance.

Ghafari for Sowter.
Minto for Rhodes

Would keep Ackerman

Yeh,I'd agree with that.Rhodes just isn't a T20 player. Sowter is very much a confidence bowler and his confidence appears shattered at the moment. Ghafari looked excellent against Leics 2nds Only way to find out if he can do it at the higher level is to give him the chance.

It's pretty clear from looking at our squad before the start of the campaign we are missing T20 batsmen in our middle order. Even if we had McKinney and Gay back from England duties it still wouldn't solve it as they are both openers/top 3.

People get bored with "Fast Food Cricket "

First class cricket always was and always will be the best form of cricket by far.
I think purely depends on them individual games as a good close result game of first class cricket is agreeably the best.

However that not always the case far too many drawn games where no team looks like winning.

A lot is made of 200 against 200 in T20 as been boring and that is of course a point, but it’s no where near as boring as 500 plays 450 in a 4 day game without any hope whatsoever of a positive result.

And watching a Dom Sibley get his average up on flat wickets

Yes it's true, a lot of red ball games can be very dull.

What i have always disliked about T20 is that batsmen dont have time to craft an innings. Sometimes a player can get a big score (Chris Gayle 175 for example) but most of the time a batsman usually has no more than a couple of balls to play himself in and then try and find the boundaries as often as possible.

T20 cricket is a high risk game, whereas first class cricket is a more thoughtful challenge.

Summed up the difference perfectly. "Instant" cricket has it's appeal but my,concern and hence, objection, is the obscene salaries being paid. It's not a problem in the IPL with its immense Indian market but the high salaries in the Hundred aren't sustainable. Where's England cricket when the Hundred owners withdraw after that tournament continues to be non-profitable?
Short form cricket must be maintained to attract the younger generation but only in a cost effective form.

Surely have to drop Ackerman and Robinson their form has been shocking both walking wickets.
Disagree on Robinson. 48 off 24 v Derbyshire,19* off 10 v Leics and run out on a direct hit v Yorkshire.Hints very much at a return to form?
I'd certainly consider replacing Ackerman or Rhodes -it wouldn't weaken the batting given that they haven't been contributing to it. Think they'd both be better off playing red ball club cricket to regain form in that format.
