Sustainability / Commercial ideas

I did see their point. Suppose you spend £1000 on baby bottles and they hardly sell. Then that £1000 is tied up for a very long time and not generating income.

However my argument is bairns won't pester for a baby bottle they see when they come to the match. They will pester for badges, posters, stationery items, small toys etc. Parents are not going to buy a shirt every match, but they probably can be persuaded to part with £1 for a pencil.
It's a no brainer really, I'd buy it for stocking fillers and stuff like that

The point is with the new FFP rules coming, we are always going to be reliant on turnover. If we dont look at other revenue streams the only that can increase is ticket prices.

Merchandise is a big one, Leeds make loads on their merchandise side of the business, up there with the best in the UK, what do they do better than us?
Well their strips aren’t absolutely shit like ours for starters

Following on from what's been an interesting discussion on the Spurs thread. I thought it would be an idea to have a thread with suggestions and discussions on ways to improve the finances of the club.

Extended concourses with better food and drink options to encourage more fans to make a day of it at the game

Any other ideas?

The concourse needs to be twice as big. Not sure how much more money it would make though

When ah were a lad...they used to sell photos of the players, I had all of the 73 team then the likes of Bolton, Ashurst...think I even had Belfitt. They were great. Wish I still had them

For sustainability we really need a decent kit that will last more than a season without the badge peeling off.

Once we have that, keep the design for more than one season like we used to.

Sign a load of Americans so the yanks get on board.

They also have a club shop in the Trinity Centre, which has a huge footfall.

Sounds like a canny big bit of work that mind, not sure it’ll help with sustainability as the cost would be astronomical. Sprucing the concourses up a bit wouldn’t do any harm mind.
Think the OP just thinks we can whack extensions on left right and centre .

It’ll end up looking like a caravan.

The concourses have been an issue for years. Under Quinny we looked at a host of things to improve them but decided against it.

The sad thing is, I can’t see the club spending any money on them now.

For the North stand, I don't think it would be a big job. Just move the turnstiles out to the extension & extend the concourse to the bit underneath the NS extension.

The bars are only made out of breeze blocks, so should be too difficult moving them back a few feet.

How do you go about extending the concourses?
From just past the club shop right round to the entrance to the black cats bar is virtually covered over for access to the north stand extension pull the turnstiles out to furthest point and change inward facing one’s to outward outward and also open up where the turnstiles are now would open up a load of space for food stalls and bars.
need sky hooks for the south stand mind.

We’ve two board members who apparently have £5b between them. Another board member with a net worth in the hundreds of millions. A bit of capital investment wouldn’t gan a miss. If not, I’m fairly sure long term loans are achievable. That doesn’t count towards FFP and any increased income generated from matchday revenues helps us with sustainability.

Doesnt even have to be their money, I'm sure they could get favourable loans with their connections
