I'm 25, and I've always regarded it as a game with a bit of a an edge to it but no more than I'd say Coventry and Pompey have been the last few seasons imo
 
Some SAFC fans will see Boro as a derby but I don’t. I’m not saying that to disrespect them in any way. The mags are our derby game as far as I’m concerned, Boro is just another league game and becomes more or less important due to what our seasons objective is.
 
I’m always quite surprised how much of an effort is made to play down the Boro game on here.
Short drive up the A19 with a lot of Sunderland supported areas as close to Boro as they are the SOL.
Places like Peterlee etc are on the doorstep of Boro so whilst it’ll never be SAFC’s biggest game, it’s still a big game.

When comparing stadium capacities Sunderland got around double the tickets at The Riverside to what Boro are getting at The SOL.

If Sunderland got the equivalent percentage of tickets at The Riverside as Boro are getting at the SOL you would have had around 1,300 ... you were given 2,575.

Also Sunderland were given 4,500 for the FA Cup match at The Riverside in 2018.

Seems wrong that SAFC would minimise the Boro allocation to what they have, especially given that it is "just another game".

You also may have history of persistent standing at away games?

You will get P38 to P28, P35 to P27 in front are not for sale and segregation. The whole North West corner is segregation too and home fans will be P1 to P6 at the end

From the outside looking in at your rivalry.
SAFC always seem to claim Boro are desperate for it to be a derby, whilst giving the game and build up a lot more coverage than you would any other league game.
I get trying to be-little them in favour of the NUFC game, but it always appears the rivalry is a lot more important on Wearside than people care to admit.

I just say how I feel about it. Dont really know any Boro fans, dont get nervous before the match, maybe slightly bigger than a normal match just because if how excited their fans get about it but other than that just a normali-ish game.

We’ve had loads of issues with away fans the past 3/4 seasons. It’s the location. I would imagine once away fans are back down to the lower bowl allocations will increase.

I vaguely recall you failing to sell out your allocation up here previously, never mind your home crowds.

However, it’s more likely to be a police / SAG decision.
1) The front section of the upper tier is no longer offered to clubs, instantly reducing available allocation.
2) We’ve also seen an increase in knobheads throwing stuff down onto the home fans below, to the point where we now (apparently) search all away fans to confiscate coins, vapes and lighters. A bigger allocation means more people to search.
3) It is a more high risk fixture than say Blackburn or Wigan.
4) Persistent standing on previous trips will also be taken into account (whether this has happened or not I don’t know, but teams such as Man Utd have been handed reduced allocations historically).

You've clearly forgotten about your fans smashing up our toilets when we played you in the fa cup. And some of your lot trying to attack the family stand and ripping out seats at the Riverside earlier this season.

Oh, and we won't forget those "chants".
