Sunderland vs boro 22 Jan 23

Nothing game really. Sunderland don't care about Boro.
Theres obviously more spice than a game against Preston for example, but I still don't really class it as a full blown rivalry. Theres not the level of hate required, and outside of the games themselves, Boro arent on enough Sunderland fans minds.

Theres obviously a few radgee types who like to big it up, but we have fans who love to try and push rivalries with Pompey, Stoke and Coventry to name a few, when most people don't give a shit so theyre outliers.

From the outside looking in at your rivalry.
SAFC always seem to claim Boro are desperate for it to be a derby, whilst giving the game and build up a lot more coverage than you would any other league game.
I get trying to be-little them in favour of the NUFC game, but it always appears the rivalry is a lot more important on Wearside than people care to admit.

It clearly winds them up when we say we don't care about them, therefore.....

It's clearly one of our biggest games of this season, but not in the same league as when we play you lot. Personally I only know 1 boro fan and he's a canny lad, down to earth, proper football fan.

I was pleased for them when the won a trophy a few years back, it was nice, if god forbid, you lot win your 1st trophy since 1955 in my lifetime I will be less then pleased. The thought of it makes me sick in my mouth.

I've read it all before a right hero in your own mind. Yes you came down in your thousands in the 70's there was a lot of bother, you did not have it all your own way despite what you say. when your allocations were cut in the 80's you could not hack it. On the other hand we went all over the country mixed it with the best build up a far better reputation than you with much smaller numbers. so wind yer neck in. Anyone can cause havoc with 7 or 8 thousand tow try doing it with 7 or 8 hundred, no thought not.
Any way I don't no way I bit. I follow football not war zones Hooligans are little shits to be fair.
A rather contradictory post.

You've clearly forgotten about your fans smashing up our toilets when we played you in the fa cup. And some of your lot trying to attack the family stand and ripping out seats at the Riverside earlier this season.

Oh, and we won't forget those "chants".
What a load of rubbish. I was there and I didn't see any seats being ripped out.

You’re 11th out of all clubs for football related offences. Glass houses and all that.

I just say how I feel about it. Dont really know any Boro fans, dont get nervous before the match, maybe slightly bigger than a normal match just because if how excited their fans get about it but other than that just a normali-ish game.

That’s fair dos, just it appears that people are always trying to out do each other in who can claim to not be bothered about Boro the most.
The areas of Peterlee, Easington etc who are as close to Boro as they are Sunderland will definitely live side by side with Boro fans so maybe it’s more relevant in the mix areas.

And again, I'm not claiming we're angels. I was just making the point to the other poster that Sunderland fans are in no position to point their fingers at Boro fans when your fans have hardly behaved impeccably whenever you've come to Boro down the years.

people try too hard nowadays. it's still a derby, just not as big to us as the mags. definitely bigger to those from south durham/n yorks for sure.

people will claim it's another game, but it's not true. if we actually got up for it, we might win for once

Yeah, basically what I’ve been trying to articulate in my previous posts.

Peterlee and Easington are much closer to Sunderland than they are Middlesbrough.

I walked through the car park outside the east sand after the game, where all your coaches were parked. Some of your fans threw seats and bottles over the fence.
So our fans ripped out seats, (no photographic evidence even been seen of this by the way) then walked out the ground with them to throw over a fence at you?
Seems believable….

I’d suspect that the wear-tees derby sees higher arrests on both sides than usual, which sort of suggests that a lot more fans see it as a derby than care to let on.
