Sunderland vs boro 22 Jan 23

Meh. Just a shame really. Better day for both sets of fans when more away supporters are there. Regardless of being a Derby or not. When I go to a Boro match I always want as many away supporters as possible. It's just better.

Aye, would prefer more away fans there. And a later kick off!
How many tickets did we get?

Got nowt against Boro at all. We've got the biggest set of cretins in world football all around us up here, they were at our game again last night waving their mag tops about. We play Shrewsbury away in the cup shortly, when we played them down there in league one the mags had a full 50 seater coach on to the game. If you endured our relationship with them you'd probably understand why we just see Boro as another game, albeit with a bit of edge, just like playing say Leeds for example. This isn't meant to be a slight on Boro in any way, it's just a matter of fact that there's no hatred.
I agree with this. I do see boro as a bigger game than most. If I had to choose a league game to win at the start of the season in this division I'd choose boro. But aye, when we've got the mags up the road it obviously comes a very distant second and I also agree that it's similar to a game against Leeds.

I had a laugh when I saw spirit of 37 had arranged the meet up in the pub and march to the game. Their twitter post was full of boro fans saying "I thought it didn't mean anything", and "this proves you see us as a big game". When in reality, for me it proves we don't really. If we were playing the mags you wouldn't need to organise anything to get everyone meeting in a pub early and creating an atmosphere on the way to the ground

Could it no be that this is an initial allocation, it’s what we have given everyone to start with this season. Witch only Coventry being limited to that amount in total…….even though they didn’t sell them all

We have been allocated 1,955 tickets as a full allocation, what a joke that is.
Can see why that is disappointing. To be fair to us though we've had plenty of issues with away fans being dickheads and flinging stuff down onto the safc fans in the north stand. Appreciate that boro haven't done it recently (as we haven't played you), but it's obviously a higher risk fixture and it's likely there'd be an element of bother, so I think the club/ safety group have probably done the right thing. Once away fans are moved into the lower bowl I'd expect you to get a higher allocation initially

Aye, there is just no comparison at all really.

That being said I do think some of our fans play it down deliberately due to the fact that it massively winds up the boro fans. Must be nowt worse than trying to goad your "rivals" only to be constantly told that you're alright really because you're not the mags! But I think for most, especially the younger fans (some older fans might hate Leeds or even Coventry more), boro is definitely seen as a pretty big game and a (admittedly distant) second biggest rival next to the mags. I'm certainly desperate to actually see us beat the buggers again.

What did you expect? It's Sunderland AFC after all! Nearly a 50,000 capacity, there will be thousands of empty seats and they give Boro less than 2,000. SAFC = Tinpot club!

Just repaying the favour for earlier this season.
