Unfortunately the claim seems to be right. Our record against you lot since I started going to Roker in 1968 is shocking and we’ve a far better record against the mags who have been a better team than your lot in general.

Potentially the most important game against Boro in years. Even though it's not; I hope that we treat it like a Derby, like you lot do. I honestly think that that's why you've had the upper hand in them, over the last 20 years or so: because we treat it as any other game and you lot don't.
I have absolutely no doubt that Mogga will have us up for it and we'll smash the f*ck out of you, though.

You actually think because Middlesbrough fans "care" more is the reason we have had a good run against you? So when you beat us a few times under Reid we didnt care as much? It's ridiculous to say that tbh.

We've got Blackpool and Swansea, plus our progress to the next round of the cup, to contend with first. Will worry about other inferior opposition nearer the time.
It's the game due to league position. Very few care about the club. Good fishing though.

No. It’s because our fans don’t. If you’ve been to a mag match then you’d sense the difference in fan attitudes which transfers to the pitch. Under Reid we had our best team since the 50s, we were beating a lot of other teams more regularly.
You really should believe it. Only one North east Derby that matters. The one we are unbeaten in ten games in. This is big game because it’s two teams near the top both on good form. But to Sunderland fans it’s not a derby….same as playing anyone else in the top six.
Got nowt against Boro at all. We've got the biggest set of cretins in world football all around us up here, they were at our game again last night waving their mag tops about. We play Shrewsbury away in the cup shortly, when we played them down there in league one the mags had a full 50 seater coach on to the game. If you endured our relationship with them you'd probably understand why we just see Boro as another game, albeit with a bit of edge, just like playing say Leeds for example. This isn't meant to be a slight on Boro in any way, it's just a matter of fact that there's no hatred.

That might come down to quality at the time. I think the point is when the teams are relatively even, Middlesbrough are more up for the game which gives them an edge.
