Kent Boy 2
Striker
WOW. Not seen us this season other than at Gillingham. Didn’t realise just how poor that side is. No leaders or captains on the pitch, some very, very average players, and absolutely no desire at all.
However, what really struck home to me was how accepting of it the club and the crowd now are. 38k there but no fire from the players, no passion from the coaches, and.no atmosphere from the fans. At the end of the game most people were walking out chatting and joking, not a hint of anger or surprise by what had happened.
We are in every sense of the word a League One club, with League One players, and we expect to regularly lose to other League One clubs. But worse than that, the players, coaches and fans seem to have totally accepted it, and on today’s evidence none of us seem to be too bothered about it.
After today, I don’t see how that side will possibly achieve promotion. So on the one hand I now don’t think Keane is the man for the job as it needs a 2-3 year proper rebuild under a top young coach. But on the other hand I think Keane is the only man that has a chance of even starting to pull us out of the malaise we are in.
