Sunderland music thread

Any good new stuff out there in Sunderland? New venues, promoters, bands etc. I should be checking out. Are Independent trying to put bands back on this summer onwards?

My best mates have started a band called Sarsparilla and have their first gig on Saturday at Indie. Sold out now mind, but yours truly will be there after our gig at Craik Park in the afternoon!

Watched that, was canny.. My mates son Ryan Hope was the keyboard player in the LA band Gabriels. Not really my kind of music but it was a solid performance. The singer has a wonderful voice.

Love that song and hadn’t appreciated the link to Sunderland. Sounds like the lad has put the graft in and done well for himself.

Nice! Heard Jools make some reference to Sunderland born musicians featuring in several of the performances in that show. We’re taking over!

Ryan who plays the keyboards and co-writes the songs is also a film director out in LA. Done a fair few of the music videos you will have seen from some of the top artists.

My best pals have just released their first single. The band is called Sarsaparilla and the single is called Spain.

No music video as yet but it's on Spotify. Cracking tune, I'm biased obviously.

Their artwork is all Wearside inspired as well. Their logo for instance is like a bottle top (from a bottle of sarsaparilla) with Made in Wearside on it. Looks class.

Worth a look on social media and a listen for anyone into the local music scene.

Thieves Of Liberty are a four-piece Rock band from North East England who specialise in a unique upbeat style. Their singalong vocal lines and catchy guitar hooks combine with a driving rhythm section to deliver an all-out entertaining sound, attracting high praise from publications such as Kerrang!, Ghost Cult Magazine, Distorted Sound and many more.

They were crowned Fireball’s Hottest Band 2019 landing a slot on the Fuelling The Fire Tour in September 2019, performing alongside Less Than Jake, Goldfinger and Save Ferris.

Lidya is one of my best mates, one of the best singers I've ever heard as well.

They're playing Trillians tomorrow night, I'll be heading over there. 7pm start.

I'll be at the indie gig as well for sure.
