when sitting in the Biz R opposite always notice what a nice building it is and completely wasted as it isNever noticed what a good looking building that is until that picture!
<< this, council planners ruined sunderlandnext time you're in Fawcett St have a look at the great buildings that are still there however all the ground floors have been vandalised by the addition of modern big windows etc, f***ing disgraceful that it was allowed by the councils over the years both labour and tory

No idea, I suppose they could buy it and convert the upper floors to social housing of some sort, let’s be honest there’s not going to be a load of new retail people wanting it,It does but what would you have done with it if there is no demand at present?
You’d hope so to keep the building going just because of its overall beauty.Chances are there'll be some kind of heritage lottery funding involved in it.
It's chockablock with smashing buildings.Negativity again on here.
Well done the Council, it's a magnificent building and we haven't got many of those.
Sounds like they may possibly be redoing the facade on the ground floor which somehow was allowed to be developed into a 60's style frontage back then.
Well I stand corrected! It's chockablock with smashing buildings.
The FDS-CeX on Fawcett Street being the pick of the lot.

That was the 60s for you. At least the building is still standing, unlike a lot of old Victorian buildings which were reduced to rubble (we know which ones we are talking about).
With good reason. The track record for this shower of a shit council, where preserving buildings is concerned, is not at all glowing now , is it?Negativity again on here.

But the article was about the Council doing the opposite. With good reason. The track record for this shower of a shit council, where preserving buildings is concerned, is not at all glowing now , is it?
It's dangerous that build; it has me walking out in front of buses like a retard as I'm ogling it when striding past.if only the ground floors were still behind those dreadful fascias
