Striker situation

Many of us we're attacked for wanting strikers (plural) in. However none of us said sign anyone. We wanted quality as we have managed in other area's. We were told any player coming in before deadline day qwould be of Danny Graham quality at one point and that we don't panic buy. We;; we don;t buy when it comes to strikers. Its a novel strategy to avoid failure in buying strikers, just don't do it.
If it was that easy we and everyone else would do it

Many have and are higher than us in the pyramid as a result.
Such as? Not so much to dispute it but who are you referring to? Strikers cost a premium for a reason. We signed Gelhardt, a forward, and people are moaning about it whilst regularly saying “a striker” would have won us more games. Yes, Ross Stewart might have.

Think your fighting a losing battle mate.

Despite it being obvious we and Gelhardt struggled today and people are frustrated any attempt to mention it will lead to the thread this has turned into.
DONT YOU THINK EVERYONE ALREADY KNEW THAT? In caps because I have lost track of how many people have posted the same thing.

Look at many cluns above us, I'm not going to allow the conversation to be shifted by misdirection, we've needed strikers for 2 years and have brought in loans only, kicking the can down the road. It would appear we chased a player on loan (not a permanent signing) who doesn't fit our style of play. It looks, when taken with KS's recent interview, like he was signed to play with RS not to replace him. Its this inability to sign a centre forward that is costing us and will continue to cost us points.

IF money is an issue liuke your suggesting then surely we sign less players in other positions and better manage what resources we have.

No because it’s nothing to do with signing other players, it’s the club’s strategy of not chucking £5-10m on individual players, which unfortunately someone of the calibre of Stewart will cost. We tried to sign Broadhead and the lad from Genk I think. Both chose other options. It happens.

I think you have made this point many, many times and I am not sure why it has to be raised everytime we don't win. Of course we needed more strikers and we failed. What do you want to happen beyond us buying strikers in the future? Do you think the club would be better off if we sacked Speakman and got someone else in? Beyond that I am not sure why you feel the need to make the same point time and time again.

We did not try to sign Broadhead in january

So we're trying to get good players without paying and its strikers which are worth most so we've no chance in future as we won't pay the going rate. Ah now I get it.

Look no one has said throw x amount at it but we have said bring in players permanently to improve us. That may be from a premier league sides academy, abroad, lower leagues or a side in our division and if it takes spending money we'll have to do it. I'd suggest doing this only if we think they're worth the money we pay, but that's a given for any transfer.

We’ve won without strikers. We’ve lost with two on the pitch. We miss Ross Stewart. We miss having a second option as good as him. Needs to let it rest till the summer.

Do you honestly think we deliberately just look at options that fit this bill and go nahhhhhh cba to do that.

As I say I am not sure why some posters keep making the same point week after week. Everyone from Speakman to Mowbray to all of us fans wanted at least one more but we failed. Nothing will change that. For me, the interesting discussion is how we can get goals out of what is undenaibly a load of attacking talent in Clarke, Amad, Roberts, Pricth, Geldhadt and Lihadji.

At no point have I suggested removing people from their posts, thats mad! What we want is team strengthened in the most key area for the first time in 2 years, its something suporters have been able to see for multiple transfer windows but the club seem to think they can bodge it and get by.

This thread is literally about our lack of strikers. I was slagged off earlier today for not making my point on Wednesday ( I did however post on the match thread so that poster was clearly incorrect) I'm dammed if I do post and dammed if I don't it seems.
