Strauss and his stupid ideas....

I‘m not excusing them but, unlike 15 of the counties, Durham are not bound to accept members views. Id also like to hear what the PCA - as players’ representative body, feel about it.

We know what Botham thinks about it from his comments a few weeks back.

Just holding their position most likely and letting others make the move

I can understand to a degree

I think what will happen is that t20 cricket will get their full games in compromise of losing maybe 2 CC games

Nobody on here has actually said what they realistically want in august

Do they want the 50 over stuff, blast or some CC or festival red games

The 100 is staying in august so don’t just say get rid of 100

The next 2 years what Durham cricket do you want in august, considering Potts, Carse and raine won’t be here

I think probs 50 over stuff for me as it’s solid days play and a good format , albeit it should 100% be reduced to 40 overs, that had a massive impact in the Roy, Hales generation as Morgan has said
I’d like the fifty over game and CC spread throughout the season, including August. Currently too many players twiddle their thumbs all spring summer, get a single month’s play in the ODC, and are never seen again. Ditto for red ball players; they pretty much have five to six weeks off in the height of season. Must also revive the Second Eleven Trophy (50 overs).

Yeah totally get that but roll back during covid, members forfeited £ to the club, the tax payer via Durham Council bailed the club (community was mentioned a lot in the bail out) out and we are currently marketing memberships with the word "community". I don't expect to hear anything from the club purely for the reason you mention. The members forum we had 2 months ago was hastily arranged due to pressure by some on social media who shamed the club with their lack of interaction with members. North also said he hoped to do more forums etc, so again they have an opportunity here to do so. A case of wait and see I guess but many of us have said the club don't care much for members at the moment.

PCA is a good shout.

Finally someone has given me an answer!!! Good to find a sane board member, hard to disagree with that mate

50 over stuff in august at least means full games being played and some good talents coming through

I guess with Cc in august tho you will miss the quickest bowlers and run makers due to 100 but I could see a few games taking place, why not?
Given how worried I am, I think I'd settle for that as I have to acknowledge the T20 is main income for many clubs.

The Pro 40 days on a Sunday were class, so again I'd not be against that change, though I think if it stays it will remain at 50 overs.

Must admit I felt as though the scheduling this year wasn't too bad. If they intend to reduce the county championship then chop the late September game and the early April game.

A lot to be discussed and this thread will keep us all amused over the winter.

Aye fair play mate

I don’t want the CC cutting btw. I think I’d rather keep 14 and just play some rounds in august maybe at out grounds with younger players

I don’t see that as being a problem if it’s just say 4 rounds? Then the other 10 with full XIs

What you think

The PCA stance is the players want to play less cricket.
I think they have a point in April May September but not much in the summer.

Seems fair enough. Going to have to be compromise somewhere as inevitably something is going to change. A lot of interesting views and valid points coming from clubs at the moment. The statement by Leicester earlier was very good, highlighting contradictions from the ECB surrounding finances.

It will be interesting to see how it all pans out, lots to be discussed. Brandon made a good point earlier about the ECB fantasy 6 team league which inevitably would include Warwickshire as they're a test ground and now they could be relegated....

It is man

You think the 100 is going in the next 2 years haha?

No, but it isn’t about what I think. It’s about what I want and what will save County Cricket.
Answer the question instead of just trolling it’s really not that hard

Absolutely f*cking hilarious that you’re accusing others of trolling considering you spent the entire night last night trying to pretend that contracts couldn’t be broken.

As for cricket in August - I’ve answered that hundreds of times on here.

The Sunday league was great but like the 100 nobody else played it and t20 killed it at domestic level. Lets be honest we wouldnt have a 50 over comp if it wasnt for the fact its clinging on at international level.

No you fuckin haven’t

You’ve just said get rid of 100

Pretty sure at this stage you’re just winding people up for the sake of it

A supposed cricket fan incapable of answering what cricket he wants next year in august
“Leave the County Championship alone.”

Yeah but he also called for the 100 so go wind him up instead

Atherton summed it up well, playing too much cricket at the wrong times and then large gaps with no cricket

Which was more or less exactly my opinion on the cricket schedule.
No you fuckin haven’t

I’ve answered it countless times on this board over the years.

Which would solve a fuckload of the problems that County Cricket faces in an instant. Emoji aside.

Again, I could say the same about you. You claim to hate the 16.4, you claim to be a fan of county cricket, but you’re doing possibly the best job (and that isn’t a compliment) I’ve ever seen anyone on this forum do in terms of arguing for the death of County Cricket.

A supposed cricket fan incapable of answering what cricket he wants next year in august

Is there a f*cking echo in here? You’ve already played that card.
Yeah but he also called for the 100 so go wind him up instead

I’ll ignore the false equivalence.

If you think the 100 won’t be here next year then I don’t know what to say to you

You’ve lost grip on reality

Mate I’m at a hell of a lot more CC than you so don’t start that game
Haha your defs on s wind up here like Brandon

I want the 100 gone but it’s not happening yet

Why you just can’t answer what cricket you want in august alongside it I just don’t get

Bizarre series of posts

How many times do I have to explain to you, at NO POINT, have I said the 16.4 won’t be here next year. Not once.

Genuine question, but how do you know that? And what ‘game’ are you even on about? I mean I didn’t even make any claim or statement about how many games anyone goes to. It’s a f*cking bizarre conclusion to arrive at.

I want the 100 gone but it’s not happening yet

Some of us are clearly more hungry to attempt to atleast speed up the process though. As opposed to bending over and taking it.

It’s actually hilarious how you can’t get stuff in your head

Keep ruining every thread then, go for it
