Strauss and his stupid ideas....

For anyone that missed it, Marty was on Total Sport last night speaking about this. It was an excellent, well thought out and impassioned defence of county cricket.

Did I?

Good. Hopefully that’ll mean you’ll stop following me around dripping on like a broken tap as you have been.

You’ve still given no explanation why you are criticizing people for saying the 100 is staying…..and then said the 100 is staying yourself

I don’t need to, my point is there and my opinion has been true throughout on what I believe.

I don’t believe I’ve criticised anyone merely for saying it IS staying.

County cricket as we know it cannot survive with the 16.4.

Bumping this again because you absolutely have to hear it if you’re a fan of county cricket.

Seriously though, do you not know the difference between what you want to happen, what could happen, and what you think will happen?

Eh?What’s that got to do with anything I just said

You and Brandon have absolutely no idea what you actual point is

You are just criticising anyone discussing changes to schedule

it was garbage this year and if you think otherwise, which you clearly do then in my opinion you are wrong

What do you want the schedule to be like next Year? Just answer the question instead of speaking in riddles and slagging off anyone who dare suggest anything
I think it’s quite obvious that the answer to that, is no.

Genuinely no idea what your actual point is and why you’re kicking off with everyone

You still haven’t given any answers to any of the questions, glaringly obvious why

So no, you can't distinguish between what people want to happen and what they think will happen.

I've told you why I thought this season was shit, I've told you what I would do and I've told you why that won't happen. I've told you what the report could have said, and I've told you why it didn't and why I'm not surprised.

As long as you keep screaming that the 16.4 can't be changed then there's no point, as you cant seem to understand what people are saying to you. You carry on I can't be arsed with you.
Aye, as I was saying @Steak Pie.
I'm out, you carry on at your own risk.

Nowt left to carry on with marra, you’ve covered all bases to be fair.

 you literally said its not getting cancelled, you've done the exact opposite of what he said, total hypocrite
Aye, as I was saying @Steak Pie.

Erm, no you said exatly the same as me

You cant understand what people are saying to you, its locked in for the next few years, so the discussion is what CC can look like, you dont seem remotely interested in that for some reason, totally perplexed considering you are a cricket fan.

Unbelievable funny people getting crazy about a difference in opinion
I offered an alternative no one commented
Just continued to argue the same points
That’s because they not interested in alternatives, compromises or any temporary solutions not in the slightest.

It was obvious and predictable how this thread was going to go from the very start.

Strauss was on a hiding to nothing no matter what he said or done if he did not cancel the one thing they wanted.

Definitely worth a listen. If what Marty is saying is correct, It doesn’t look like 12 counties will support this.

My (completely uninformed) guess is that Strauss has proposed this for discussion/negotiation on the basis that the 16.4 will stay as it is, and he can’t do anything about it. He can’t assume it will be abandoned or revised, even if that’s what he would have wanted.

I expect that there will be a more acceptable (or less unacceptable?) compromise in the offing.

I would like to think Durham will consult members, even if they aren’t constitutionally obliged to. Not optimistic that they will.

Should we be bombarding Bostock/Botham with emails telling them we want a mechanism to be heard?

I think there’ve already been ‘enough’ counties come out and condemn it given the numbers required for any change to be voted down.

Including, fair play to him, Bransgrove at Hampfrica. Hate him for his behaviour around our demotion in 2016, but credit where it’s due on speaking up against this.

Absolutely. For me Durham have been an embarrassment so far on this issue (Bot ham’s comments from a few weeks back notwithstanding), just about every other club have come out and condemned it. From Durham, the silence has been deafening. It’s definitely worth getting in touch and putting the pressure on. I’ve already let them know my thoughts.

Durham won't speak out against it while Bostock is in the frame for the CEO job at ECB. I feel this is why he was one of the few Chairmen last season who voted for the 3 conference system that we would have had now if it had gone through.

The club will be well aware of the depth of feeling among supporters. Social media is full of angry supporters. The clubs sees the financial bribes they'll get which is blinding them from seeing the long term damage it will do. County cricket will disappear up its own arse if we hadn't taken this stand. The ECB are snouts at the trough only interested in their bank balances than county cricket.

Wasting your time asking Botham or Bostock they’re not interested in our views.

Fantastic that, right on the button.

So the 100 is losing money. Hmm. Bit of a cheek, to eat all the cash generated by red ball cricket. It's a bad parasite that feeds off it's host and then tries to kill it.

Very good and accurate way of putting it.

Finally got around to listening to this. If Marty walked into my living room now, I'd stand up and give him a round of applause.

He's spot on. Well said Marty.
