That’s what’s annoying me, blokes done so much for English cricket
Haven’t seen a single person questioning his playing achievements.
The difference is, some of us can compartmentalise Strauss the player, from Strauss the ECB stooge.
Just because he scored a few runs once doesn’t mean that he’s forever exempt from criticism….
If you caught him shagging your wife would you just pat him on the arse and say “No worries Straussy lad, it’s all worth it for Brisbane 2010!”
They all join the “real world” eventually but your remark is brainless because if they all did what you suggest there would be no professional cricket and we’d all have nothing to watch except club cricket on a Saturday. Great idea!
That remark is just as brainless as what you accuse them of, because it makes the assumption that nobody else would be coming up behind them to take their places if they did all sack it off.
I expect nothing better from him or them. But I am getting increasingly annoyed at people who would call themselves crickets fans, but are just shrugging their shoulders and accepting the death of the domestic game.
I wouldn’t worry about bracketing him as a ‘cricket fan’. He’s a self confessed ambivalent towards county cricket - which is why he is taking great pleasure in watching the demise of the counties.
