Steven Gerrard

Rangers are more than matching Celtic in the head to head matches. They need to sort their away form out but they are very close to overhauling Celtic.

Will never ever ever happen

people have been saying wait for this to happen for as long as I can remember (40 odd years)

it will never happen

Fergie broke their dominance in the 80's, winning it 3 times in 6 years, quite impressive to think he broke both the Old Firm hold on the Scottish League and Liverpools on the English

nobody else has won it since
And with Aberdeen he won the European Cup Winners Cup, beating Real Madrid in the final.

That seems unbelievable now.

It just shows the power of a top manager. Alex Ferguson, Brian Clough etc. Winning huge trophies at small clubs that went back to being small when they left.

A top manager is the number 1 thing for a successful club on the field. All else follows.

People still can't get their head round the importance of a good manager. Fans want fortunes spent on players, but a manager is one man with one set of wages that can make a much bigger impact than players.

He’s definately made rangers more competitive

over rated as a player mind, slightly inferior to alonso in lfcs midfield and less decorated than Henderson (in a couple of months)....

Spot on.

‘It’s not the manager, it’s the players’ was the mantra on here when we were abysmal under Ross. The simplistic view was that as the manager wasn’t on the pitch playing, he couldn’t be blamed for the shit football.

Marvellous logic!
