South Africa v England 1st test - Centurion

You know Buttler could be good for England, if he was coming in after a good start and basis and able to play his natural game ,play some shots and take the game away from the opposition.

However he seems to always be at the crease in a crisis and having to shepherd the tail all the time and having to curb his normal game

You can do things without being silly. Under Bayliss they were just reckless. No reason you can’t move 2 steps down the crease without slashing at everything, for instance.
Denly has done it perfectly

It’s a difficult pitch this, good test cricket though

Denly was excellent

Bairstow kept low

Stokes v poor dismissal

Wrong choice at Tossthat is clear

Some class bowling here mind. Need to keep lead to 50 n we are in the game

All out for 200 here

What was the point in putting Crawley in the squad
So he can come in for Sibley for the last test

Doesn't matter if Bairstow's did stay down he was so late on it

Being too kind to Bairstow. He’d have bowled had it not kept fractionally low. He was beaten for pace and was on the back foot for a front foot length delivery

Exactly this takes away 4/5 of his shot choices and his style he should be able to swing the bat by the time he gets in but he has to take his time and be careful

Bairstow was a bloke who once averaged 40 consistently for the best part of 2 years at one stage and has 6 test centuries to his name.

He might not be now, but he was performing like a proper test batsman at one point. In a side that's somewhat bereft of quality batsman its not surprising the selectors have given him another chance to see if he can find his form back, but clearly he's been regressing for a while now. His career average is barely clinging onto 35.

he wouldn't like, it kept canny low.
Had a look on twitter before

Jesus wept, people get so angry

I don’t know how people can follow cricket if they get that annoyed by 90mph bowlers taking wickets on and a pitch doing stuff

I try keep off it these days

It’s about putting things into perspective mate, it was the same on here in the Ashes when Cummins and Hazelwood were bowling out of their skins, instead of giving them credit for their brilliant bowling it was just constant slagging off our own players!

I know aye, ridiculous like.

I for one enjoy watching good bowling, and we’ve seen some of it today

Some batsman have technical flaws, stokes got out to poor shot, some were out too fantastic bowling. It’s hard, it’s test cricket

That lad was bowling 93mph consistently and nipping it away. Good luck with that

There are absolutely zero players sat at home that should be in the squad either

I’d have taken Malan but you can’t say he has to be in
Curran plays some nice shorts but has a weakness against short ball

No higher than 8 for him

Buttler faced a ball a couple of balls later at the same pace and length and was in line and forward to it. Bairstow is batting with a scrambled brain to quick bowlers regardless of whether it kept a little bit low.

Always so much focus on bairstow like! It’s mad

He’s only playing as Pope got injured
90mph ball keeping low like, good luck.

Well I’ve already criticised Root. The point I’m making is that the batting isn’t good enough. And regardless of the lack of talent in the pool, the same players are given opportunity after opportunity

I dont mind us losing wickets to good bowling but this has been very poor. Shot selections have been terrible and we have fallen to some very obvious field placings/traps.
