SOL expansion

Difficult not to qualify for the knockout stage. 9 or 10 points from 8 games is enough to get through. Relegation form.

Well 20 out of the 36 dont make it. Or are you classing the pre knockout play off as the knock outs?
I'm paying £50 to watch us in the Europa League without a second thought. Couldn't care less who we play.

If we have to wait another 50 year ill probably not be here to see it.

Hark at money bags there

Reasonable ‘in comparison to’ doesn’t necessarily mean reasonably though. Between 30-40 per game, especially if offered at that rate as a bulk package, I think is reasonable and will see nearly all season ticket holders take up the option.

£40-50 on a game by game basis on a Thursday night against an relatively unknown opponent might not see massive take up mind.
Let’s hope it’s not £50, £30-35 would be fair IMO
I think some may be in for a shock. This was Forest prices for the 4 games as a bundle.

Villa's were higher and split into 2 categories and these are individual prices shown at bottom of page.

I think the club would maybe be in for a shock if they introduced that type of price scheme too.

I think we need to see the season ticket prices and match day prices for comparison

The whole stadium is designed for expansion, apart from the West Stand which was obviously done. At the back of the East/North stands it actually looks half finished. Bob Murray gets a bit of stick on here, but he had the foresight to see that we are capable of pulling in 50-60 k if successful and the stadium would be able to be easily expanded to accomodate this.

Iam not sure this club would put up the welcome to Sunderland sign the walkway of personality… and then build an extension immediately after…
Remembering they are cleaning the stadium infrastructure piecemeal and it’s still ongoing. I think an extension is 5 years away and some of us are going to be getting very angry as our seats are turned into corporate.
The only way to keep everyone happy is to extend.

No one is paying £50 to watch Tromso

Then if we dont do very well & the last game becomes meaningless, no one is going to it beyond those whove bought the 4 matches as a package
They absolutely will like, mental to think we wouldn't sell out for any European game at the SoL even at £50 a pop.

I mean let's get things into perspective, its not going to be thirty quid for a European game, 99.9% of supporters wouldn't blink an eye at £50.

They would sell out in seconds.

I've just checked the games and Villa certainly didn't sell out their 43,000 until the Forest game (possibly the Bologna if away fans reduced it). Forest is 30,000 so got closer to selling out in a few games.

Villa (4 League, 3 knockouts)
Bologna - 30,909
Maccabi Tel Aviv - 29,429
Young Boys - 32,158
Red Bull Salzburg 37,457

Lille - 37,583
Bologna - 41,662
Forest 43,028

Forest (4 League, 1 playoff, 3 knockouts)
Midtjylland -29,323
Porto - 29,195
Malmo FF - 28,941
Ferencváros - 26,304

Fenerbahce -26,883

Midtjylland - 29,502
Porto - 29,560
Villa - 29,790

OK, crack on 😉

Nah, jesting aside I know their ST & PL match day prices will be higher than ours anyway. The club should realise they can't just go rinsing fans because it's Europe and here's hoping they don't go down that route immediately and don't just trot out the "but to compete in Europe we need to charge high prices" line.

This is a very rough example but just say an average of 35,000 adults all paying an extra £10 a game at £50 is an extra £350,000 in the total £1.75m). Yet if it was 45,000 paying a fair price £40 then that's £1.8m. There's also all the extra spending from the extra 10,000 fans being there and those of the 35,000 who've 'saved' £10 possibly having a little more spare cash to spend.

Everyone is in the same boat, so its happening as much to me as its happening to you or anyone else. Its the cost of success, i'd rather a scramble for tickets and a full house rather than having 20k vs Burton but having the freedom of the ground to sit where you want
The clue/solution is in the threads title. No one’s advocating being shite and playing in front of 20000 so I’m not sure where you’ve picked that up from.
This is a very good test on the needed for an extension.
Or on the pricing of European games. SAFC got greedy in 1973.

At that price range I’m not sure. It’s a big financial commitment for four games against unknown opposition on a weeknight on unknown dates. There’s financial risk attached to that for people and at that price point it’d be significant. People would also be considering away trips to pay for

You honestly think people would pay top dollar for a game against tin pot opposition? Deluded.

You think I'm deluded for thinking we will sell out every European game, comfortably, no matter who we face? 🤣🤣🤣

Have a word with yourself.

That your pretty much saying regardless of price, yes. Money is tight for many, and theyre not going to pay top dollar for a tin pot team. Theyll save it for the big seed teams. Our cup crowds are largely shite & that includes league Cup semi finals.
