This is the first thread about the Mags that I can't remember that @Grumpy Old Man has started and IIRC we asked him to do it. If we asked him to Villa's or Swindon's he probably would.

I was asked by a large number of people here to do it; that was the only reason I wrote it. I had to write a lot because there was a lot to write about. As for a bit sad, it was my job; writing stuff like this helps keep my hand on as much as anything else.

For one thing, GOM more or less does this stuff on request, rather than belching out minor snippets a la the absurd Martin.

For another, GOM knows what he is talking about.

Unfortunately in this day and age of huge tv revenues finances and the information we are afforded with from the internet club finances gave become hugely important and to an extent interesting.
To call GOM our version of Michael Martin is very disingenuous. He was asked to have a look at the mags accounts by us mere mortals who don't understand the balance sheet as well as he does and he's done a very fair and unbiased job of it.

To be fair he’s been asked to do this so with that title probably thought people would know what the thread is about

Their belts will need to be tighter than the likes of Martin will tolerate, that's for sure. But that's a long way from being deep in the brown and sticky stuff, which is where they would certainly have been if they'd "done a Villa".



Simply put mate, I was asked to do it. So I did.

He was asked to by several people. Good of him to do it imo.

Isn't it a case of the difference between the analysis done by someone with an axe to grind and someone who hasn't. I have no input to what MM comes out with and you have none that GOM has produced, so less of the theirs and ours. For the record, GOM appears to analyse with balance which would lead me to trust his analysis over MM.

That combined with the fact that Martin doesn't have a single fully functional brain cell.
