Reckon she has a chance to win the tournament

Beat Stephens and she'll probably be regarded as favourite for the semi.

Unless you're a dedicated fan of them individually, some of these earlier Nadal, Djokovic and, more surprisingly here, Federer matches are a bit boring. At least Eurosport are running dedicated coverage on both their main channels this week (would have been better last week), so you can easily watch Kei-Paire without needing the player.

Hell on from the cycling fans if they'd ditched the final week of the Giro though.

Yeah true, I know nothing about cycling so know nothing about that event, but cycling is obviously a massive part of the ES output, so one channel each is fair. Is that Giro thing an annual event always on the same week?

The Giro is annual. Looks like it started a week later this year than last. It's one if the three grand tours so pretty much equivalent to a Slam in tennis.

Ah right fair enough, the bits I caught mainly around 5pm, waiting for the tennis to come on just mentioned 'in the lead up to the Tour de France', so I thought it might have been a warm up type like a Nottingham, Eastbourne or something, but either way, it is pretty much a dedicated cycling channel so if that is one of the main events then you're right, it wouldn't have gone down well with it's core audience.

Would love to visit RG one year. Has anyone from here been or know how easy it is to get tickets?

Went to RG in 2013, just got a ground pass as it was the first Monday so plenty going on on the outside courts. Can’t remember if I bought direct from the RG website or from Viagogo but it was simple enough, but you could buy in advance, none of the “queueing experience” Wimbledon make you endure.

Definitely used Viagogo twice for Rome and once for Madrid, again, simple enough and not extortionate even for centre court.

I watched a bit of the James Ward match at Surbiton. He was terrible. I really hope he doesn't get a Wimbledon wildcard, it would be a waste.

The only reason he might, would be due to the grim lack of alternatives. They handed 4 WCs back last year and this year, other than Jay Clarke and the 3 grass Challenger winners (if needed, which when you see all the top 100 players at Surbiton, they might not be), there's pretty much nobody else, whereas there'll probably be 11 legit contenders (inc ITF winners) going for the 8 women's spots. He's old, not going to get any better and still kind of living off that Isner 2015 Davis Cup win, but I suppose he is still circa top 200 and if they want to give them to Brits, then it'll be better than the likes of Liam Broady and Lloyd Glasspool and the youngsters haven't really done much in 2019 on the Futures scene, so far too early for them.

Incidentally, had that lad who Ward beat been American rather than from Hull, he'd have automatically got a US Open MD WC for winning the NCAAs, but as he's British he won't, but they are talking about giving him a Wimbledon Q WC instead.

Wawrinka is way overpriced at 11/5 to beat Federer tomorrow mind , the bookies have priced it up on reputation rather than actual ability on clay.
They do look long, although I reckon the 5+ hr match with Tsitsipas will be taking into account. Rog was barely on more than 90 mins in his last match against Mayer, and Mayer, Otte and Ruud combined wouldn't be too much more than that Tsitsi match. Looking forward to that one though.

Delpo in danger, khaconov having a great tournament following a shocking year.
Zverev beating fognini in 4 is a slight surprise hope he can stop Novak but 12 Double faults is shocking
Thiem player very well against monfils

I do generally prefer the WTA and probably always will, but it was a bit grim earlier seeing Halep beat down on Swiatek in front of a quarter full main court in about 45 minutes, whilst simultaneously Zverev and Fognini were battling it out in front of a full house on Lenglen. I genuinely do think the women enjoyed a solid run from RG 17 until AO 18 where more of the memorable matches and moments happened, but the last few have been a lot better on the men's and this one is no exception. There's been very few stand out women's matches on the main courts this year and a lot of damp squibs. Anyway, the completed QF line up is:

Keys vs Barty
Halep vs Anisimova
Konta vs Stephens
Martic vs Vondrousova

Not a bad mix there. You'd probably have to think a repeat of last year's final (Halep vs Stephens) would be the favourite outcome at this point.

Djokovic (1) vs Zverev (5)
Thiem (4) vs Khachanov (10)
Federer (3) vs Wawrinka (24)
Nadal (2) vs Nishikori (7)

So the only non top 10 seed to make the QF is only a 3 time grand slam winner. Some good looking matches there. I'd expect the top 4 seeds to make the semi finals but wouldn't be a huge surprise if Stan or Karen made it. Nishiori is almost a bye for Nadal unfortunately, and suspect Novak will have too much for Zverev.

It's Konta vs Stephens from 1pm UK tomorrow on Chatrier followed by Nadal-Nishikori, and Federer vs Stan on Lenglen at 1pm, followed by Vondrousova vs Martic.

Thiem was very good today mind, best person to stop Djokovic before nadal. Can see Stan winning tomorrow sadly, but wouldnt want to see fed get destroyed by rafa either

Stan's too long against Federer (although I do think Fed will win) and I don't think Ash Barty should be a favourite in any way against Madison Keys, never mind as short as that.

Sloane's a great price as well. I'd be very surprised if Konta manages to win a set against her.

Solid start from Jo. Came through a long service game, saving break points and leads 2-1 on serve.

Solid turns to great. Serving for the set at 5-1.
