I've got a 90 year old woman staying with us (no pics) and we've not got Sky Sports. Any chance of a decent link which won't have any pop-ups, porn or swearing, which will last for the entire afternoon without me having to sit next to her?

oK Root gone now declare!!!!

This New Zeland team must be one hell of a batting unit. 419 is the highest score ever to win in a forth innings.

So on that basis Cook must think they are the best in the world ever!

Switching over to the playoff final, this is baffling and annoying.

The weather's awful tomorrow apparently. We should have declared at lunch at the latest and had 2 sessions today to bowl them out.

We are just pointlessly wasting valuable time.

NZ have scored 449 runs all series.

We bat on with a poor forecast and a 466 run lead

DECLARE FFS!!!

It's about f***ing time

At last! So we have about 60 overs to bowl them out. There will be no play tomorrow. We should have enforced the follow on. If not we should have gone for it last night get to 200 overnight then declare before start of play this morning. But no we waste a whole session with rain on the way!

Can only assume that we're more concerned about getting in batting practice for the Ashes. Which sort of makes sense in that it's by far our biggest weakness compared to the attack. But it's not like Australia are going to be bowling 450 behind I wouldn't have thought. Or if they are then there's no need to practice this scenario in the first place.

If we get them out by the end of the day then it was a spot on decision obviously. But I doubt it's going to happen. NZ aren't incompetent and for all we're good we're not good enough to bowl out a team in one and a half sessions consistently.

This.

Waugh's Australia would have declared ages ago, or enforced the follow on. We are too cautious at times.

Aye. You can dominate matches without winning them in cricket. Getting a team out twice is such an accomplishment that you should always go for it if the chance is there, no such thing as an easy or meaningless win in a Test. Even the difference between going into the Ashes having won 2 in a row as opposed to just the series could be enormous.

It does make me feel a bit odd being English saying all this, it feels terribly unsporting to smack a team while they're down, especially when that team represents my other most favourite place in the whole world, but that's precisely the problem. It's only England would think like that. The West Indies, Australia, South Africa, India, even NZ themselves would have enforced the follow on and gone for the win without any doubt in the same circumstances.

It would be canny say New Zealand were 100/9 come the end of the day and no play tomorrow that would embarrass England/Cook/Flower a little bit.

Agreed we should try and win every game we can.
