Second Test - England v NZ

Going to be the closest ashes for a while I think going off England's perfromance so far. They aren't ahead of the pack like they were the last few series they've played, just a pretty good team, and Australia are improved over where they were the past two series as well.

This series, with all respect to NZ which is a country I adore, should have been a showcase/statement of intent. England are clearly better but it's been a failry vanilla perfromance. Would have thought they would have gone after the attack just now at least after putting themselves in but they're just treating it like another innings. That cockiness and agression seems to have gone.

If England went and batted aggressively I could understand the decision not to enforce the follow on but this has been shite from Compton and Trott.

Cook nearly succeeded in running Trott out.

These Kiwi bowlers are dead on their feet yet our batting is pedestrian. Trott is either leaving or dead batting everything. It's the paying public who are being cheated.

It's hard to knock trott as that's how he plays . .we need those sorts of innings from him from time to time. Wonder whether we should've been more experimental with the batting order, other teams seem happy to do it in tests

Trott can be infuriating when he slows the game down like this

We'll need someone like him to build innings around against Australia but well also need him to score quickly on occasion and this is the perfect chance for him to practice some shots in a test

A draw is a won series. Obvious to me.

Not like we're in danger of losing going for the win either tho. If be annoyed if I'd paid today I think
